We booked this for our trip in June but I keep going back and forth on it. Although we'll be on DDP, I'm paying OOP for this one, so I'm wondering if it's worth the expense (2 adults, 1 child).

Have any of you been? Was the food okay? What about character interaction?

And would it be possible to almost make a day of it - maybe doing the petting zoo and pony ride first, then MBBBQ, followed by that marshmallow roast they do (sorry, can't remember the name!)?

While I can't offer help with the BBQ itself, it would be worth it to make a day of it. Ft. Wilderness is so much fun. We did the pony ride, my dd loved it. One of you will have to actually lead the pony as the CM's don't do it for insurance reasons. But that was fun for me to lead the pony as well. There isn't much of a petting zoo anymore. Most of the animals are gone, but there are some. You could also do the campfire and the movie after which is fun and FREE which is the best part!

:goodvibes We've done it twice and love, love , love it! The interaction with the characters is amazing! They have a part of the show devoted to dancing with them! They dance and dance with all the kids and adults. It's a rootin' tootin' good time!!

There is a lasso show and live country music. If you are celebrating an anniversary or birthday they make an announcment and sing or have you slow dance.

Great atmosphere! The food is wonderful if you like barbeque and corn on the cob type food. There's lemonade and beer too. The feeling is casual and fun.

I highly recomend you do this. You won't regret it!

You could make a day of it at FT. Wilderness by taking a pony ride, wagon/carraige ride, horeback riding, renting a mouseboat or fishing boat, playing on the beach, go to the petting farm, taking the (free- part of transportation) boat ride from the Ft. to MK & WL- it's a beautiful boat ride, walk on the trails or shop in the two gift shops!

We went in Sept. hardly anyone there. My kids loved the band, dancing with the characters and lasso guy- but the food was not worth 2TS. We paid out of pocket instead of using plan and it was only 1ts at the time.
Although kids liked the character fun- we will not go again. Just not that fantastic for the money. I did like it- but enjoyed Chef Mickey's more.
