I have this scheduled because I thought my DD4 and DS2 would love it but recently I have read some reports on Allearsnet that have made me wonder if our time would be better spent elsewhere. DH and I are very safety conscious so if it is the madhouse that some describe where we might have trouble keeping up with the kids, I need to take it off my list. Can those of you who have done this tell me. We are going in Sept, so I wouldn't think it would be as crowded as some other months, but who knows. Thoughts please for an obsessing mother.:bounce: :bounce: :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

We've been in September, with 2 kids, DD 6 and DS 4. It was only half occupied, maybe a little more. I didn't have any problem keeping an eye on them, and they had a lot more fun than the Hoop Dee Doo, which we did the year before.
It was nice being able to go up and grab whatever you wanted, the picnic tables were great, and the band and characters were wonderful.

I'd do it again in a heartbeat.

Thank you Gallaj0. I was also wondering how it compared to HDDR. I think the open space of the BBQ is probably better for my two active kids, I had just become afraid that maybe my DH and I would be frantic the whole time trying to keep up with them. I have read two nightmare reports about parents pushing other little kids out of the way to get their kids up to the characters for signing. I'm really glad to hear a good report. Thanks.

When we were there, they CM's were very good at putting people into a line for the characters, and there was plenty of time to spend with them, they came out 3-4 times, so you could get them all.

We did the BBQ in September before and it wasnt crowded (it was a bit hot) and DS loved it. I didnt see anyone pushing to see characters at all - he got to visit each one. Maybe as you said maybe its worse at more crowded times of the year.

I actually wanted to book it this year but DH wants to try HDDR again.

Book it and enjoy!

How about in December? Does the BBQ get really busy then and do they even have their normal Tuesday/Thursday hours regularly? Prices seem kind of steep but this is DS' last under 3 trip (he turns 3 in January) so we'd be saving a little by trying it out this trip i;) If we decided to go, we'd probably go on 12/23.
