We are having a hard time trying to decide between HDDR or MBBBQ for our March trip. Does anyone have any reviews? Pictures?? Mainly I was wondering if it is really croded? Is it hard to find a seat or get to the food? Also, how is the Character interaction? TIA! :flower:

We have done both and while we had a good time at BBQ, we never miss the HDD.

There are a couple of longer threads recently asking the same question. I would do a search on HDD and you should get to them. I'm not smart enough to attach a link to the threads.

Never did HDD. But did do BBQ last year and the year before. The kids loved it did it with 6 kids ranging from 2-8 some boys some girls, in our group. The character interaction was fantastic when we were there. Lots of activities.

Food just so-so.
My dd is a bit sensitive to loud noises and found it a bit too noisy, but got over it. There is Country line dancing music that is live, loud and long.

We did both HDD & the BBQ in Oct, '02 so it has been awhile. There were 14 of us that trip & HDD was 1st night (all we could get) so my DD (6 then) fell asleep about 3/4 thru it. I do plan to do it again so she can see it next time, however I really enjoyed HDD. BBQ was also really great. I liked the food (but BBQ food is one of my faves) and the character interaction couldn't be beat. Goofy actually came over and did the chicken dance with us 3 moms and 4 kids. That alone was priceless! Can't remember if you gave your kids ages, but if they are into the characters the BBQ is more worth the $$ than the HDD - IMHO.

HDD gets my vote - much better atmosphere overall IMO. The BBQ is in an outdoor pavilion. The food is served buffet style and picnic tables fill up quickly for good seats. If you choose the BBQ, go early to get a good location. Also, the bathrooms are a little ways off - no big deal really, but on the night we went it rained so you either got wet or took umbrellas to use the bathroom. Someone stole DH's rain poncho right when he went to get a beer - guess whoever took it didn't want to get wet. :sad2:

In view of what Kaitysmum said, I guess that, as we're going in July and BBQ is outdoors that HDD is a safer bet.

How far out can you book the HDD and is it suitable for a very picky child (plain chicken and burgers kind of girl)

Oh, gosh. Hope you didn't misunderstand. There is a roof over the pavilion, so you're not completely subjected to the elements (unless you need to use the bathroom)

HDD has fried chicken, beans, salad, corn, bread and strawberry shortcake. There is a set menu, so if she doesn't like the above, you might have to rethink the BBQ.
