Mickey?

Not sure you have the dates correct my friend. I'm pretty sure the race is on 1/11/13.

Irony - the marathon is 1/13/13....

And yes, he'll be at the start on the podium, and I would imagine at the finish line congratulating racers as they finish. Unsure about in the finishers area for pictures since it would be very un-disneylike to have 2 mickey's within the same 'viewing' area...but it's possible.

AND more than likely Mickey will be in 2-4 spots along the course

Last year at the marathon he was...

1. At the start
2. At the golf course (him and Minnie switching out with Goofy and Donald)
3. Just outside of Animal Kingdom by his Jammin' Jungle float
4. And I assume he and Minnie were switching out with Donald and Goofy at the finish as well.

How could he be in so many places at once??? ;)

My #1 goal this year is to get a picture with him in his track suit!!! Here's hoping! :p

It's the secret Disney magic :)

I have seen him at the finish line for every race I've been in on both coasts. Sometimes you have to look for him as he can slip behind other characters, but he's always been there.

It's very possible that I missed him. At the time I was overwhelmed at the thought of finishing my first marathon and assumed I'd missed him during a switch out.

Goof and Duck, but no mice :sad1::

Hopefully I'll get him this year :teeth:

That is a bummer. I thought I was 2 for 2 at WDW, but my 2003 photo isn't wide enough to show Mick, and I guess I wasn't high fiving back then. i'm 6/6 at DL, but was chasing down some younger guys in 2009 at DL and didn't see him until it was too late to swerve over.

I'm guessing that they have to take bio-breaks too given there is a 4.5 hour difference between the first and last finisher.

At DL they used to give out the age group awards in a tent so you could get your picture with Mickey. Unfortunately they don't do it anymore. Two of my favorites:

I have never spectated a Disney race at the finish, but always assumed that there were 'twins in the tent. The characters were out for their 'contract' time then went to the tent just behind the finish where magically, the same character would come right back out .

Great pictures! :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

By my count I'm 1/5 on pictures with Mickey and Minnie during races. I did get pics with them in their jammin' jungle set-up in 2012. I didn't see them at the Princess finish and they switched out on the course under the castle (while dressed in royal gear...that one stung). Then I missed them at the marathon finish in 2012 and just missed them switching out at the golf course. That one stung too. I just think they switch out every 30 minutes or so with other characters - during the Princess half it was with Cinderella and Prince Charming at the castle and with Donald, Daisy and Goofy at the finish...at the marathon it was with Donald and Goofy both times. At least I'm running both the half and full this year so I have 2 chances to get them in their track suits. :)

I just re-read that paragraph and realize that I sound totally nuts...oh well. I know what my priorities are! :teeth:
