Mickey With a Musket

I thought all the pictures/logos of Mickey holding the musket had been removed. However, I did see one trash can with the logo near the bus stop near the 1400 loop, IIRC. I also found this one, small, unobtrusive sign. Kudos to anyone who can identify the location.

That is a distinct possibility but it's not where I took the picture. I suppose it's just a matter of time before this one disappears as well. I really hate when they (not just Disney) mess with a classic.

About 2 years ago the original Fort Wilderness entrance sign (the one you saw when you turned in, the BIG circle with Mickey holding the gun) went up for sale on EBay (this was shortly after they had taken it down). I have to say that is one of the fastest rising prices I've ever seen for a Disney resort property sale on Ebay.

I never got to see the final price, but at one point it was around $4000.00. I can only assume it got a bit higher. I really wish I knew who had received it, talk about a conversation piece. Imagine having that hanging outside your camper somewhere (safe and secure of course ). You might become your own attraction at the Fort, people stopping to take pictures with it...lol.

To me that is probably the key memorabilia item from the Fort now, the only other thing that might be bigger would be the original Fort trains. Imagine the amount of people that drove by that sign, realizing that they were at the Fort, 30 years of that. I wouldn't be surprised if the final price had been up around 8 or 9 thousand.

Not that this has anything to do with a Mickey Musket lol but when we ate at Trails End on Friday I saw the big stuffed bear was back by Crocketts. Maybe he was just out getting cleaned lol.

I wonder what happened to the sign that was over the dock at the marina. I noticed a couple of weeks ago that it has been removed. On a side note, I happened to run into a gentleman the other day that used to manage the marina. He worked for Disney for 13 years. He is now an animal control officer for Fairfax County, VA. My neighbor is a captain on the Faifax County police department which oversees animal services and is his boss. He had many great memories and stories from his days at the Fort.

How much do you think I could get for one of them hats on e-bay? Colson39 is going to need one for his little camper.

Yes there is. It still works too! Not sure if anybody ever actually picnics at this spot, but you have a table, trash can (w/ a Mickey w/ a Musket), water fountain, and lake view!

Why did they take all the signs down that had Mickey with the Musket? I was there in May and the dock sign was still gone. Are they ever going to put it back? It looks so bare without it.

The dock does look bare without the sign. I know that there were some rotted out sections of the sign before it was taken down. After seeing this, we figured they planned to replace it - but that's been at least a year ago????
