Has anyone bought any of the metallic ones? I bought a couple at DLR this summer (stainless steel finish and a darker graphite finish) and now both of them are corroding away. I'm pretty disappointed since I don't think they're safe around food and should probably be thrown away. The only part corroding is the stopper portion inside the bottle. :confused3 Will I be able to return these at our upcoming trip?

Hmm. My dads a wine fanatic so we have many of the stoppers. We haven't had that issue, but I know my dads pretty big with cleaning them, and a bottle of wine will only have a stopper in it for a day or two at the max.

Sorry that happened to you :confused3 But I think Disney would help you out. I know they helped me with merchandise before.

I have one of those and have had no trouble with it

1) We have four style.
2) None are experiencing any corrosion.
3) We do bring them out during holiday or fun-time dinner parties.
4) They are not suitable for more formal dinners.
5) We have other stoppers for those occasions.

NOTE: They are not good to use as a stopper when storing wine between days. Only a vacuum stopper works well enough to stop the air from degrading the wine. And, the vacuum stoppers are not that expensive.

We have a couple that are showing corrosion. We still use them though.

Ours isn't showing anything.

We also bought some of the cork/granite ones from Italy at EPCOT, and the cork broke off inside the bottle.

Mine discolored and completely corroded also. Disgusting. It didn't even last a year. I threw it out and chalked it up to just another crappy, poor quality disney souvenir.

We have had ours for 4 years, and have used them dozens of times for short periods of time. I don't have them in the bottle for very long because I can't seem to make the bottle of wine last more than an hour! Perhaps it has something to do with atmospheric pressure or something? :rotfl:

Per your question regarding returning the item, it depends. When is your next trip. Disney has become pretty strict about the timeframe on returns. Returns must be made withing 90 days of purchase. If you do not have the original receipt, you cannot get a cash return.

Well shoot. No, I didn't keep the receipt. I guess I expected them to be food safe. I use them in place of the corks for my red and white cooking wines. Because I don't cook with wine daily, they're in the bottle pretty often. It sounds like they're fine if you use them ocasionally. Does anyone think they'll exchange them for the glass ones without a receipt?

It all depends on the manager working at the time. Some are very good about doing anything to keep the guest happy. Others are more hard line. No reason not to try. If it doesn't work, you're not out anything. You might get lucky.

Our Mickey Head Stopper has changed colors--kinda cool, actually--just on the Mickey Head portion. It kinda looks like tie-die. The "stopper" part is still OK and looks like new. We usually only have the stopper in the wine for a short time...we LOVE wine!! :rotfl2::rotfl2: I think I made the mistake of throwing it in the dishwasher a time or two and that's the cause of the discoloration. We think it looks neat, tho! ;)

If it makes you feel better I have a silver wine stopper not from disney, but from a reputable company and the wine stopper has also corroded at the bottom. Probably becuase i left it in for too long. (it's Mariposa, if you haven't heard of them, google it, they have the best serving ware)

I actually had that same problem with a stainless steel tea kettle I bought at the theme park. Six months later and it was corroded at the seams and water was leaking from it. There is nothing they would do-I too thought it would be food safe to use. Good luck to you.

I have 3 and all of them have a little corrosion on them. Makes me sad :-(

We bought 2 Mickey heads when we were there (a silver and a gold colored one) and still use them and have not had any issues with them.
