I don't get nauseous on any other rides. The scarier the better. My BFF got nauseous on Space. She was fine on the swinging cars and i was not. I closed my eyes and pretended I was in a hammock.
We went with the non swinging gondola -which was great until we got stuck at the very top for 20 minutes while they had to stop and hose out one of the swinging gondolas. Also keep in mind that while the non swinging line may usually be shorter, it also moves slower as they only load one non swinging for every two swinging gondolas.
Have you checked out the Disneyland Webcam? Every so often it's pointed at the Mickey Wheel and you clearly see which gondolas slide and which don't. The visual might help you see how it's done.
I've only been brave enough for the non swinging, but I've always wondered if there are seat belts or if they somehow strap you in on the swinging gondolas?
The first time we did the swinging gondola it was a bit disconcerting but ended up being fun. I had taken Bonine for motion sickness and did fine, a tiny bit queezy at the end. The next time I had not planned on riding it and had not taken anything. It was fun and actually somewhat relaxing rocking back and forth. I did not get sick. 3'd time I had not meds either. A couple other riders in my car were getting sick and called out to the operators to stop the wheel. I got off with them as I was starting to get a little sick. I really enjoy the swinging cars but we do the stationary ones now.
I am pretty scared of Ferris wheels in general, but i can ride the swinging side. Maybe because I know its supposed to swing or its more like a roller coaster? It's weird even to me, but on a traditional Ferris wheel I panic if anyone moves or when we stop and I don't on the swinging gondolas.
