Mickey Waffles? Autograph Books? Bringing food into the Park?

I wonder if it's the same CM I had in July, that was super-carefully examining my backpack (which I have no problem with, as it does help to keep us safe) while telling me that Disneyland was not designed for handicapped people, so scooters should not be allowed (I was using a scooter as, per doctor's orders, I can't visit DL without one). She then went on to say "but now we have ADA so we have to allow you in."

We also use the Sharpie Retractables for character signatures and think they work great! The characters can usually manage to push in the top because it is similar to a pen and they have trouble holding onto the cap of regular sharpies or getting it on and off by themselves. I found a huge pack of assorted colors on Amazon before our last trip and the book came out great with the "rainbow" of colors!
Are cups of tap ice water available I both parks like WDW parks?
We had always carried water bottle with us and found out our last trip to WDW that ice water can be requested at any quick service restaurant or cart that has it. We would all share to cut down on waste and it was much easier than lugging a heavy backpack of waters with us for sure!

It's been stated, but I'll restate that officially no outside food is allowed outside of baby food or specific medical needs. The unofficial policy is that you can bring stuff in as long as you don't overdo it. A picnic basket probably won't be allowed. Separate sandwich fixings will likely keep you from getting in. Some people have been found assembling sandwiches and told to leave or throw them away. Cooler size should be pretty small - the one I took literally barely held a six-pack, but a little bit larger probably won't draw scrutiny. Nothing on wheels though unless it's for a medical need (some medications need to be cooled).

I've done some things that drew the attention of Disney CMs. Once I spilled a can of Coke, and as a CM approached me. I was thinking maybe I was in trouble for the outside beverage, but she just came over to reassure me that I didn't have to clean it up myself. Another time some snacks dropped from an outside backpack pocket while loading on the Haunted Mansion, and a CM picked it and tossed it back to me just as the safety bar came down.

lol thanks for the funny stories and the info, I will be sure to keep that in mind, a 6 pack cooler sounds like a great idea!

Love, love, love that photo/autograph book for the 60th! I've always gotten the photo/autograph books for WDW and put a picture of my child with the character opposite the autograph. They love looking at them later. Does anyone know if I can buy that one online before I go?

Isn't that autograph book gorgeous! I haven't found it for sale online after researching a bit.

You cannot bring anything on the prohibited items list: https://disneyland.disney.go.com/faq/parks/permitted-items/
Otherwise they won't say anything about food at bag check.

We had The.Worst. Ever. security CM in June. She seriously checked *every* pocket of *every* bag while at least 10 people flew the lines next to us (per person and we had a party of 8). She said nothing about all the food I had for my kids. The young lady ahead of us had a glass iced coffee beverage so she made her poor it into a cup (but even provided a paper cup).

The prohibited stuff makes sense, all things that I figured would be prohibited, thank god those horrid selfie sticks are banned! Sounds like a horrible experience! especially with such a big party.

That's a great idea! I'm just going to bring an assortment and see what they take from my hand!

From what I have read and heard from people, DLR has ice water available just like WDW parks!

I know the offical policy says no outside food, but we have never had a problem. We always bring a soft sided cooler (can hold a 12 pack I'd guess) with bottled water, soda/juice and snacks. The only comment we've ever gotten is that the CMs wanted to share our snacks :)

Enjoy!

A six-pack size is actually their official limit for taking into the park. However, it doesn't really jibe with the "no outside food or beverages" policy, but everyone just accepts that it doesn't make too much sense.

Coolers larger than 6-pack sized are not permitted into the theme parks.

They don't seem to have a problem with food/ snacks, as long you don't go crazy with it. My wife follows a fairly strict, fitness oriented diet. They've had no issue with her bringing in her own small, pre-packed meals.

On a side note, I also normally follow what some would consider to be a fairly strict diet. But, when I'm in the parks that's out the window!

She didn't say anything about my scooter. And she was there on our 2nd day but we didn't see her the rest of the week. Family speculation was that she had been reassigned. And I'm not buying the "keeps us safe" thing either. She made me open this tiny coin pocket that you couldn't fit anything dangerous in. (She either missed or didn't care about my mom's pocket knife which was too big to fit in the pocket she made me open.)

It might have been entertaining to report the security CM you met to Disney though and watch them bend over backwards to make sure you didn't sue.

We usually take in a few snacks in our back pack, this last trip I didn't take in as much bottle waters because you can walk up to any place that has fountain soda and get a free cup of ice water! It was def a life saver last summer, some places give small cups some give bigger ones

Hey, it works out for us the customers so thats all that matters.

Nobody in our group is super strict eaters, my girlfriend and I are healthy eaters but on vacation that will be an after thought. It'll be more like, "How many churro's can I carry at once"

Seem's like it is his or miss with the security from what I have heard from multiple people.

That is a fantastic revelation! Water is m favourite thing to drink so I will just bring my insulated water bottle and will be good to go!!!!

It was posted in another thread that some 60th Anniversary items are now available at Disneystore.com. They have one autograph book on the list.

You can definitely bring in snacks. I walked in through the gates a few weeks ago while eating a bag of goldfish lol

We have always brought in snacks (trail mix, apples, etc.) and water with no problem.

The security people are all different. Sometimes you get ones that barely glance thru a couple of pockets in a backpack and then you get those, like the other poster had, where they check every little thing. (Hint: those are usually the older people, especially the older men who may or may not be retired law enforcement) I know the comment the security person made was rude, but it did make me laugh. The older generation just sometimes doesn't realize that sometimes you just don't say anything, even if you are thinking it. Like my Mom. God bless her.

I saw that! I'm debating on ordering it now. I might just wait till the park because I know receiving stuff in the mail will just make me more excited and less able to focus on my studies!

This is my life's motto. I feel like if I were to get a tattoo, it would be this quote.

amen, amen. There is nothing more to life then double fisting churro's while carrying a backpack full of more.

Yea, I find it funny how older people just blurt things out. My grandma is a prime example of this!

OP, thanks for asking these questions!

DH was wondering about bringing in his water bottle. Does it need to be empty when he brings it in? Or can he have water in it?
They aren't going to gripe about homemade, GF protein bars, I hope?

You can bring in food and drink as long as it is pre-prepared and not in glass containers.
