I just had to share our Mickey tie-dye shirts. The shirts are for me, my mom, and my 28 year old daughter. We're having a family reunion of sorts at Disneyland at the end of September-beginning of October and will be celebrating my parents' 50th wedding anniversary and my daughter's 6 month wedding anniversary. This will be the very first time we've all been to Disneyland together and we are so excited. My mom helped me make the shirts and I can't wait for the three of us to wear them together! :yay:

There are detailed instructions on how to make these tie dye shirts under the Creative Designs section of this board. It's really fun to make them and even more fun to wear them!

I am not that creative or patient! I need to buy a pre-made one from somewhere! I LOVE them! I love the color, love the design! I would like to get one in blue or green too! That would be cool.

Those are awesome! I've been a big fan of the Creative DISigns board for a year or so and have seen them before, but I've been too intimidated to make them. Were they difficult to make? They're really cool! Good job!

These are great! What a super job you did.:worship:

I called DH over right away and he is ready to go buy dye for us to make shirts for our upcoming trip. In 2 weeks we will be at Disneyland!

Thanks for posting and telling us where the instructions are located.

It looks pretty simple...was it?

Ooooh! Those look fantastic. Wish I was feeling creative but, alas, I am not. I just forked over the money to have some matching shirts made.

Sorry to be invading on your thread but I looooved making my shirts:)

Isn't making shirts sooo fun!!! I made these our trip this last January :)

If you look at my siggie, I made them for everyone :) (7 shirts!! It took a while to do)

The paint chipping away was totally an accident in the washer :) I think we used old shirt paint and it didn't stick. After the first wash, it was permanently vintage looking!

wazowskiLOVER:), I really love your shirts! I'm so glad that you posted the pics. The vintage look is just awesome. And yes, making shirts is so much fun. I don't think it's difficult, but you do have to be patient and take your time. I love how the pink shirts turned out so much that I think I'll make black/grey ones for my Dad, husband, son and son-in-law. I just love photopass photos where everyone is matching or color coordinated!

aaawww... How Cute!!:goodvibes

Super Great Job:thumbsup2

We made the spraypaint kind! I'm not sure we'll actually wear them in the park, but we'll take them for jammas :D

Oh my goodness!! I have looked at those pictures in your signature dozens of times and because they were kind of from a distance, I thought it was a skull and crossbones on your shirts! I had no idea that was Mickey! What is Mickey doing? Flying through space? Wow! I guess the whole idea is the visual 'trick' - that at a distance, it looks like a skull and crossbones. It sure tricked ME!

Mickey is parachuting :)

Everyone at DLR kept saying the same exact thing! "Oh my, thats mickey!! I thought it was a skull!!"

It was great to hear. I loooove to make stuff. Its just so much fun :) Thanks for noticing Sherry!

I noticed the black shirts too...and, like Sherry, I thought it was a skull and crossbones! I just assumed you went at Halloween time!

LOVE the pink tie-dye shirts. LOVE them.

Yes! I don't know how many times I looked at those pictures and saw the 'skull and crossbones shirts.' I just assumed it had some inside meaning to Wazowski's family. I didn't see any Disney reference in there at all! Now that she has revealed it is actually Mickey parachuting, I realize that whoever designed that particular pattern actually intended it to look like a skull and crossbones from a distance. I don't think it is an accident at all. It is a deliberate 'trick of the eye' (I think that is called a trompe l'oeil in French, though I probably massacred the spelling!), and I fell right for the trick! That actually would be good to wear around Halloween time at DL. Is that when those picures were taken, Wazowski? In October?

Thanks DisSarahK!

Sherry, I wish!! We went in January when I took those pictures. I just wanted to make shirts that the guys would end up wearing later ;) I believe trompe l'oeil is spelled that way :) Since I'm trying to become a graphic designer I love playing with foreground and background, its SO much fun!!
