are the mickey statues IN the parks, or outside the parks (in the espanlade/downtown disney)? We will probably be at DLR feb. 21-26, and they are scheduled to leave the 22nd (I believe). The 21st is a blockout day for our passes, and I was hoping to see the statues w/o having to go INTO the parks. I would love to spend my 1st afternoon/evening just strolling around and seeing the statues. Would this be possible? Thanks! :earboy2:

How long will the statues stay at DL? I saw them at WDW but would love to see them again on the other coast.

The statues are in DCA and will be there through Feb 22.

They are all inside the park. There are a couple out by the California sign, but the bulk of them are in the park. They start right by the big sun/waterfall, then continue to line the bridge over to PP and then they have a ton of them down in that lower area that overlooks PP. I am not sure what they call that area. There are a few others here and there, but the bulk of them are in that area. It is one thing I was not sure my DD would be interested in - but she LOVED it. Ran from statue to statue to see who made them. I had never heard of about 75% of the 'celebrities', and I consider myself a Hollywood buff! LOL

there's a few outside. the one by the L is done by raven. there's one of kim possible. cute!

will they still be there ON the 22nd? Or, will they "magically disappear" on the night of the 21st? I know Disney is great at putting up and taking down christmas decorations overnite. I am hoping that they will still be in the park on the 22nd....that will be our 1st park day.

The artice I saw said they would be there THROUGH the 22nd, so I would think you'd be OK.

Amazing how quickly they put them up though. We were there Jan 8 - 10
There were a few Mickeys in DTD on the 8th, but we didn't see any at all in DCA. The morning of the 9th they were ALL over DCA. Had to have been quite a chore as the weather was UGLY - but then never underestimate the Disney magic! :wizard:

I will keep my fingers crossed. I would REALLY love to see them. They were in Dallas awhile back, but I missed them. Dallas is a 3-4 hour drive from here, and I couldn't convince DH that the statues were a godd reason to drive that far!!LOL!! :flower:

We saw 15 of them while they were here in Dallas at the huge Gaylord hotel. The Mickeys were scattered through the hotel and it was like a scavenger hunt trying to fine the "Hidden" Mickeys. That is one of our motivations, plus my b-day, to go to DCA to see the other 60 statues during their last couple of days before they are auctioned off. Our picture below was just 1 of them.

Thanks for posting the original thread. I was curious where they would be located too.

I am surprised to see you sitting on the statue. When they were in WDW they were roped off and you couldn't touch them, Only take pictures of them. Some little ones tried to crawl under the ropes and were told to move behind the ropes and not touch them. It would have been great if we could have been able to pose with them!! :earsgirl:

Are the Mickey's roped off at DL? I was assuming they would not be since they weren't at the Gaylord Texan.

At DCA only 2 are roped off--Rosie O'Donnell's and one other (can't remember which). All the others are not and you can touch them.

What are the plans for them now? I would have loved to see them but we won't be there until April. Bummer!

I don't know which one is the substitute for Janet's, Miss Jackson's.

Did that particular statue have a wardrobe malfunction? :rolleyes1 Thanks for the link! I am looking forward to seeing the rest of them in person.

After their run at DL, they will be auctioned off and the money goes to the charity designated by the artist who created the Mickey.

our dates have changed to 1 week later, so it looks like I will miss them! :sad2:

you can catch them at Disney's California Adventure through February 22, 2005, then they're off to New York and Washington D.C. When the tour ends, the statues will be auctioned, with the proceeds going to benefit the charity of each artist's choice.

This just came out of the Disney Insider.

If I'm not mistaken, after Feb 22 they will be auctioned off.
