We used to keep the leftover Mickey Mouse soap at the end of our trip. We would savor every last bit when we got home as a little reminder of our trip. I am in Disney now and noticed that they give you a generic "bar" of soap without the Mickey imprint. How long ago did that change?

I thought we were freaks. WE were soooooo disappointed in April with Tink. We still had about 1/2 doz from old trips we treat each other and put them under someone else's pillow.. Sadly I think the last one is in the bath tub right now :(
Maybe I will have to figure out a way to make Mickey soap.. :rotfl:

It's been a few trips for us since we noticed the change, so maybe a year or two?

I think the mickey soap was phased out at the Deluxe, moderate and DVC Resorts about 3 years ago. I did receive some at a value resort after that, I 'm guess the value resorts were using up the remaining stock. The deluxe, moderate and DVC resorts went to the "premium" spa-type soaps (sea salt and so forth). I like plain old soap much better, so now I just pack a couple of plan soap bars for use when I travel.

I feel stupid lamenting the loss of Mickey soap as a 40 year old man, but considering we aren't the types to fill our house with vacation souvenirs, the soap bars were our little reminder that another vacation was on the horizon.

As I type, my wife is at Downtown Disney and claims she might have found a replacement. I'll update if she comes through.

IMHO, the Mickey soap was too popular. Somebody in management probably got tired of having a soap budget that was way beyond the industry average.

First the Mickey butter, then the soap. What next?:confused3

Probably, I just packed for a week at the beach and packed 10 cute mickey bars of soap. In the end I couldn't bear to use any of them and brought them all home!

I think we got 2 of them, most of the soaps we get are the small rectangular spa soaps. They very possibly came from the value resort, all our other stays were deluxe, and I don't recall getting any then. I believe the shampoo and conditioner that was with those soaps were the blue bottles too, not the H2O series.

I am saving the Mickey soaps. I have them displayed on the bathroom counter, hopefully no one ever opens it while using the bathroom. :scared:

I found boxes and boxes of soaps from many many past Disney trips dating back to when it was the Golf resort and Disney Inn. They are a reminder of great vacations we have enjoyed. WE also have match books from vacations to Disney the past 40 years.

As has been pointed out, now they are 'spa' type with Disney resorts and a Tink printed on them (at least they were in May.

We had dozens of them from many, many trips. I finally donated them to a children's hospital. I kind of wish I had saved a few!

POR gets cute shampoo bottles with Mickey ear caps

Cute bottles that leak easily. I guess it might convince guests not to take them home. But personally I prefer the shampoo at the DVC resorts better. The shampoo in the cute Mickey hat bottles seem to dull my hair.

I think this is about correct. The last time we stayed at Pop we got the mickey boxed soap. We bought into DVC that same year so that was 2010. I have a set in each bathroom. If you stack the boxes correctly you get the full picture of Mickey. The next stay they had the H2O stuff, which i do not care for....although a lot like it.

Kudos to you on the donation and spreading the magic! I can only imagine how much joy you brought to those children! pixiedust:

We stayed at POR in April and got Mickey soaps. Assuming you're talking about the little orange scented bars with Mickey imprinted in them. I brought a few home. Just used the last one, actually. I'm going to miss that smell! Found a shampoo and conditioner through - so I'm not totally without the Disney smell yet.
