I'm trying to be thrifty, and save our $$ for things we can't/don't do at home. So, with that in mind, I just made some Mickey-shaped Rice Krispy Treats. I was hoping someone could tell me how they come at the parks?
I tried to find some pics, but no luck. I'm pretty sure they dip the ears in chocolate. Do they come on a stick, or just in a bag?
Thanks!

go to google and select hte images option... type in " mickey rice krispy" and there are several pics---some in bags or on sticks--- some in chocolate and some not---

hope this helps

Thanks! I was so obsessed with trying to find it on the Dis Boards that I neglected to try Google! Silly me!!!

I just had to say that I think that's a really cool idea! I might have to give it a try one of these days as well. :)

I tried making these when we came home from DL and my Mickey cookie cutter made the connection between the ears and the head too thin...my treats were too frail. :(

I use my egg shaper to make my head. I pack it in and roll it with a rolling pin to make it tight. This makes the perfect size. It is a lot of work. (But they turned out so nice.) I then cover one side with chocolate and use Disney sprinkles over the top.. I bet the mickey mouse head sprinkles would be cool. I then put them in a cello bag and put tons of curling ribbon to tie it off. They turned out so cute. I got lots of complements when I handed them out.

Do you have a picture? I am making 'You're going to Disneyland!" boxes for some of my grandsons for Christmas and it would be fun to have Mickey Krispies in there too..very cleaver!

And you are exactly right about really packing the mixture. We bought a cookie cutter a couple of trips back and then watched them make the treats. The ones you buy are actually a little thicker than the cookie cutter, (at least the one we bought) and they REALLY stuff that mixture in there. Not as good as the originals, but at least a little Disney magic at home.

I've found that the recipe on the box of Rice Krispies uses a little too much butter/marshmallow to shape the krispy treats into something that, well, stays shaped. What I've done is just add more Rice Krispies until it gets thicker, then when you use your cookie cutter or whatever you use to shape it, you will have the benefit of a slightly drier mixture to make that process easier.

Also, I suggest chilling the Mickey Krispy treats for about 30 minutes before you dip into the chocolate.

Great tips! I make these too, and have found that it also works well just to put chocolate all over one side... so the ears aren't heavier than the rest of Mickey's head. We kind of fight over them a bit. I'll have to check out the Mickey sprinkles too. Where do you find them?

thinking about doing them as a Christmas gift for friends after our trip to DLR.

I am so sorry, I don't have any pictures. :( Next time I make some I will do that, but I am moving at the end of this month, so it won't be for a while.

I love this thread! It is great when people share what they have learned from trial and error so that others will have better success. I would love to see an entire board about making/recreating Disney food items at home. I mean they have one for crafts and photoagraphy..why not cooking? Usually there is a great response when someone posts a recipe in a thread, but you never know where these will pop up, Disneyland board, WDW board, Budget board or a dining board. For those who do not get to parks frequently, recipes are way to have a little Disney magic at home. It also helps those who are trying to be savvy with their money, give their kids all the magic but in a less expensive way.
