Going to Magic Kingdom next Thursday! Planning to park in the Mickey Lot. Is there a tram to take us to the park or is walking the best bet?

There's a tram outside the lot to DTD near bag check. If you have a stroller it can be faster to walk sometimes because the area for strollers is limited.

It's really up to you whether you prefer to walk or take the tram. Personally, I would take the tram because there is enough walking to be done throughout the day. :rotfl: As mentioned, if you do have a stroller, you can take it with you on the tram, but it will need to be folded up. Otherwise, there is a walking path from the parking structure to DLR (it skirts by some of DTD and ends up at the tram unloading area).

Do you mean the Magic Kingdom in FL? Or DL in CA?
Disneyland Park is the original Magic Kingdom. We were calling it the Magic Kingdom before WDW was opened.

The walk from the Mickey & Friends parking structure to the parks is about a quarter mile. Depending on the crowds waiting for trams you may want to walk, or get on a tram. The wait isn't that long. If you can fold up your stroller, you'll get on much quicker, however, the walk isn't bad. I've done it plenty of times. :)

For those that do walk, what is the best route to get out of the parking structure to the walking path? When my group tried, we had a hard time figuring out how we were supposed to get out of the parking structure/tram waiting area; the only route seemed to involve crossing the tram route on the west side of the waiting area, then walking through the flat lot, and then out onto Magic Way at the Downtown Drive crosswalk.

That's the route. The other option is to exit the same way, but continue past DLH and walk through DTD. It's a little bit of a longer walk, but sometimes I like to eat in DTD before going into the park, so I'd rather just walk than take the tram and walk back through DTD.

My group alternated between going through the DLH and DTD or just following the walking path along the edges of DTD to the tram unloading area. I liked the DLH and DTD route, but we also tended to get side-tracked...so many shops and yummy food offerings!

Just as an FYI, if the park is busy you may get routed to the Toy Story lot - they don't always allow parking in the Mickey structure depending on capacity and time of day. There are busses that will transport you from that lot so travel time to the park is about the same.
