Okay, since I can't find how to search, since the new change...I'm going to ask.....

I can remember reading last Christmas about how someone made a Mickey Icon Christmas wreath out of two round smaller wreaths and then one larger round wreath....they gave some specific instructions and now I'm wanting to make one!! Anybody got any ideas? Or know where I can find the instructions?

Thanks everyone and besides not being about to find the search option....I like the new look of our beloved forums!! :earboy2: :earboy2: :earboy2:

I had saved the page with pix & instructions on my hard drive, but the URL doesn't seem to be working. I don't have a way to link to the pix, but would be happy to email some of them to you if you PM me with your address. The directions I've copied below. I apologize to the OP of the pix & instructions, but I failed to note your name. You did a great job, though! :teeth:

"As always here are a few reference shots of the actual wreaths as they appear on Main Street at Disneyland.

All together I spent less then $30.00 for the entire project.

That included three pre-made wreaths, a velvet bow, gold ornament balls, lights, floral wire, and a string of wooden cranberry beads.

Start out by connecting the three wreathes into the "Mickey configuration". I used good strong pieces of coat-hanger wire for this.

Next wrap the wreath with lights.

At this point you'll need to use the floral wire and make bunches of three and four berries...The entire project took about 3 hours, and this part was 2 hours of it.

Attach the Bow with hot glue and floral wire. Next fluff the entire wreath. At this point all thats really left to do is hotglue the berries, balls, and whatever else you want to decorate your wreath.

There it is! Please remember that if you decide to display your wreath out side as I have, that you use lights and materials that are made for outdoor use...Merry Christmas!"

Thanks Piratesmate!! I am going to send you a PM so that I can see some pictures!!

I knew someone would know what I was talking about!!

Merry Mickey Christmas!!

The only place I've posted pix was on these boards & that feature is down right now. I'll be happy to send you the pix, but do you have dialup or a faster connection like cable or DSL? For dialup I'll divide them into multiple messages - otherwise it will take forever.

ETA: To send a PM (to keep your email private)
You can click on the user's name within the thread you're reading & choose "Send a private message to xxxx".

You could also click on the UserCP link at the top of the page, you'll see the option to send Private Messages on the left side of the new page. Click on "Send New Message" & you're set - although you need to know the name (proper spelling) of the DIS user.

Here the link that I have for the Mickey wreath

I need to go out this weekend and look for the supplies to make it. I have a feeling I am going to have a hard time finding the little wreaths.

Anyone know of any other Disney Christmas projects? Trying to make some interesting Christmas items, to keep my MIL guessing where I bought them. LOL!!!!

That's it!!! The page as I saved it had "Home" at the top & under properties it said "http://www.doombuggyproductions.com/imagineering.html" which wasn't working yesterday. Today it took me to an interesting page. You might want to check it out - they have other projects as well.

I just forwarded the page to my friend who is our local "craft goddess". She's always looking for new projects. So, I gave her one. I should have my new wreath by next Monday!!

okay...I'm having a hard time finding smaller wreaths for Mickey's ears!! I've looked everwhere...Hobby Lobby, Walmart, Big Lots, Frank's Nursery, Joanne Fabrics, etc!! So, now I'm going to try to cut another 20" wreath in half for the ears and wire them together....

Does anybody have another idea or maybe another place to look for a smaller wreath?

Please help!!

I have no ideas on where else to look (Did you check Michael's & AC Moore?) but have another idea. It's not as easy though.

It sounds like you want to use artificial wreaths from where you've looked. If so, how about getting a bundle of garland? Can you just make the size circle you want with two "rows" or "layers" of the garland? The wire bends fairly easily - at least on the garlands I have. Maybe you could find a bucket or bowl that is the right size & wrap the garland around that? It might make it easier to get it round. You could use florist wire to hold it together.

I think that might be easier than cutting down a large wreath. The wire in the central frame of the large wreath is probably heavier than the stuff in the garland, making it more difficult to re-shape.

Question???

What ratio in wreath sizes does everyone use? ::MickeyMo

I want to do this too!

Well, after I posted my last reply earlier today, I decided to go for the cutting of the 20" wreath for the ears. I called my local handy man at the Ace Hardware store and they told me to bring the wreath on down and they cut it in half for free !!! (they got a kick out of the idea of the Mickey Mouse - I told them I was obsessed) The halves were easy to mold into smaller wreaths. It actually worked out pretty good because I feel it's pretty sturdy. I used 20 gauge wire to hold the ears in place. I then wrapped the wreaths in white lights (2 - 100 indoor/outdoor sets). Then I hot glued 48 plastic silver and burgandy ornaments onto the wreaths, and then added a big silver and burgandy bow at the bottom. I had the whole thing completed and hung on my front door in about 2 hours!!

My budget for the whole project:

$3.99 - 20" wreath from Hobby Lobby (on sale last week)
$3.98 - 2 sets of indoor/outdoor lights from Hobby Lobby (also on sale)
$5.99 - Big bow from Big Lots
$12.00- Plastic Ornaments from Hobby Lobby (they had a really good sale!)
$1.99 - Wire to put the ears on from Ace Hardware
free - An old 20" wreath from the garage
---------
$27.95 for the whole project!! And I think it looks beautiful!! I'll try to post a picture if I can figure out how to do it!!!

I'll be glad to post any pointers, if anybody needs them!!

Here is our Mickey Wreath I made last year. This year I have red paper on the door and of course, a spot light. I didn't run lights through it...maybe next year! Michele

I'm working on my Mickey Mouse wreath too....it's been a project of mine forever....each year I try to do one for a gift, and when I attach the bow, I try to find a bow that 'captures' the person I'm giving it to.....

And just have to do a Dale Jr shout out to your pic~whoa baby...it's his year 2005!
