I dont think Disney would spend that kind of money. Especially for such a brand name without some sort of big plan for it.

I don't see anything changing at the Disney parks. However, it would make the most sense for Disney to add the superheroes into the New York area of the Hollywood Studios.

I think, in the past few years, Marvel superheroes have made a real comeback. Just thinking about back-to-school shopping, almost all the stuff for boys were Marvel characters. I'm sure Disney hating losing that piece of the cartoon cash pie. I doubt it had to do witht he parks and much more to do with all the merchandising dollars: Disney getting the Hannah Montana, princesses, Wizards of Waverly Place, HSM $ but only Cars on the boys side (which they need to make a sequel fast if they want to keep that market segment).

The characters should go in DHS in a "hero"-themed area that would allow Disney to also incorporate the exisiting Power Rangers. By the time Disney does anything with it, my ds will be too old for it, but he would have loved a Superheroes attraction....and I agree, they'll add a kick-butt character breakfast to go with it. For Disney, it's all about the cash.

I worry what this will do to the Marvel Comic industry which is still going strong. Disney's never really been involved with such a venture before and like they tried to change Pixar (and Pixar fought back to a decent compromise) undoubtedly Disney will try to change Marvel.

The question is... will they get those gals some proper attire now?

... uh I did mean proper attire for the Marvel gals, not the princesses.

I have mixed feelings about this...i have a son and I wonderred if he would not be a disney fan when he gets older becuase of the lack of boy aimed characters...Incredibles? cars..? pirates? anyways...I'm really interested to see what happens here..I would imagine a 5th theme park..but it would probably put Universal/Islands of Adventure to sleep..so I don't know...I agree...Marvel comics just doesn't fit with MK...maybe it can revamp the Future world in EPCOT...okay I might be the only one that thinks that area sux but its so needs revamping...but we cannot expect anything but the best from disney...

I've never really subscribed to the idea that WDW is lacking in experiences for boys. My son is 8 and has been visiting the parks regularly since he was 1 1/2. He is still well entertained by things like Star Tours, Indiana Jones, dinosaurs (DAK), LMA, Buzz, Space Mountain, and pretty much any of the thrill rides.

The Disney character lineup is probably more slanted toward girls, but that seems to be more in their wheelhouse anyway. Even if you walk-around characters of Spider-Man and Wolverine, I don't think boys will gravitate toward them in the same numbers that girls do to Cinderella and Ariel.

I'm sure Disney has many good business reasons for making this deal and I'm not disputing its value to the company. But I don't see any major theme park integration (in the areas where contractually permitted) as being a major source of untapped revenue. Sure there would be SOME positive impact on the parks, but I don't see that revenue stream as being a driving force behind the acquisition.
