the mickey kitchen sink sundae from Clarabelles in DCA is soo cute. We would love to get a couple on our next trip.

Question: is the sink easily breakable? would we be able to put it in our backpack after we eat ? or would it break easily?

It's all plastic and very hearty. It survived an afternoon in the bottom of our stroller, underneath a variety of other purchases. Then it flew home in a very cramped suitcase, and currently resides in the play kitchen for my 2 and 3.5 year old to use. If it can withstand them, it can withstand anything!

I agree that the main base if pretty solid plastic and could probably withstand a fair amount of pressure. I do think the Mickey glove faucets and the spout might be a little less sturdy. They are just plastic and can bend/snap if too much pressure is applied. So, if you do keep them in your backpack, I would try to wrap something around those parts to give them a little more cushion.

This is going to probably be a silly question but did you just wash it out in the bathroom sink when you were finished? I feel like it would be a sticky mess in your backpack??

Yes. I went to the bathroom by the lockers and rinsed out the sinks. You might bring a bag or something with you to put them in before putting them in your backpack. They've got a lot of nooks and crannies where water could get stuck and would be hard to reach with a paper towel to dry.

The sink was larger than we expected so unless you carry a large backpack it will take up a fair amount of room. It's 6.25" wide x 5.25" front to back x 6" tall (including the faucet). As Figment_jii said, take a bag because there are some nooks and crannies that are hard to wipe dry. It just fit into a gallon ziploc.

I sacrificed eating the sundae to get the Mickey pants, washed it in the bathroom and carefully packed it in my suitcase. I got it all the way home, then, while unpacking my suitcase, I dropped it on the ground and the legs cracked.

I guess I have a reason to go back and force myself to eat another sundae.... :rotfl:

Mine was dropped on the kitchen tile floor and broke about 2 days after carefully getting it home. I called Disney to purchase a new one to replace it and they sent me one at no charge!! I started with the merchandise number and was transferred a few times but they finally got me to the right person and the sink arrived a few days later :)

We rinsed ours in the bathroom and one of the shops gave us a bag to carry them in.

I had to google it, it's so cute! I hope they keep it on the menu a while, because I'd love to get my girls' one when we go again (probably next May).

think of it as a relatively cheap(er) souvenir that just happens to come with ice cream ;)

How much is this sundae now? I am seeing two different prices. Where can one partake in this yumminess? Thanks!

I saw it on the Clarabelle's menu on the Disneyland website today for $11.99. I also saw something somewhere mention that it's now smaller than it used to be. Can't wait to see it now that it's within the realm of possibility. :thumbsup2

The Clarabelle's menu listed it as coming with several different sundaes, with cookies, mint chocolate, mocha, strawberry... Neat!

The image I saw on Bing was $22.99. Makes $11.99 seem like a steal.

It was always $12 at DLR. When they first debuted it was $23 in WDW, which was odd because it's the same item as the one DLR. I think someone in WDW saw "kitchen sink" and went with the pricing of the kitchen sink sundae at Beaches and Cream. They've since dropped the price at WDW (it's now $15). I thought it was funny that the Disney Parks Blog entry played up how much bigger the WDW sundae is, but in truth, the DLR one is also three scoops. There are fewer toppings, but it's not that much different.
