So, Disney must have read my mind... I bought a bunch of gift cards and I was pondering how I was going to combine them for our upcoming trip next week.....

DVC just sent a letter that effective 30 Nov 2015, no more than 5 gift cards may be used for a dues payment.....But, Disney Gift Card Services has introduced a new tool that allows you to combine multiple small-value Disney Gift Cards into one card...

There are screen shots of step by step instructions on how to manage and transfer Disney Gift Card balances.

If it works, how cool is that!

The ability to combine gift cards has probably been around for 4 or 5 months now. It does work well, but you can only have maximum of $1,000 on each card at any given time.

This makes me wonder...

If you owe, say $6K in dues, could you call and give them 5 gift cards, each with $1K, delete a card, load up another one with $1K and then call back to pay with one more card? I've never attempted to split my payment over two calls...not even sure it would be allowed...but I'm curious if it would work. I have no need to do it since my MF's are still <$1K for at least one more year:flower3:.

Our dues are over 3K and I used $500 gift cards last year after they said they would only take 5 cards per phone call. In our case we have 3 memberships, so I just made 3 phone calls to pay them.

I would think if you have that high of dues, they will allow more than one phone call.

I guess we'll have to wait and see. I took it to mean 5 max per payment. I have several contracts (some as small as 25 points) which I have set up for monthly automatic payments, but I can pay off the dues for the individual contracts at any time during the year.
Whenever I receive a Disney Gift card I immediately apply it to one of my smaller contracts for dues and I use a CC for anything not covered by the gift card.

So -- I've got 200 gift cards @ $50 each. How do I call or where do I go to convert these cards? Right this minute I owe $1903.70?

Our dues are over $5000. I called earlier (after the letter and the 5 card max) and used 3 large disney gift cards to pay on our dues. I called back a week or so later to pay the remaining balance with 3 more disney gift cards. I had no problem using more than 5 gift cards at 2 separate times.

Just an FYI, we could not pay all our dues with five $1000 disney gift cards, so the new rules won't work for us if they are strictly enforced :)

But the card you combine them to can only be worth a maximum of $1,000. Therefore, if you owe $1,903.70, you'd need one card with $1,000 and one card with the balance. Only a concern if you owe more than $5,000 in maintenance fees. And if you do, you have bigger problems than the number of gift cards.

Wow! $10,000 in Disney giftcards!

That's what I did. Mine was $1,554. Did one with $1,000 and one with $600 (still has a balance of around $46).

I think what they want to avoid is someone calling with multiple $50 gift cards and take an hour to read them all off.
