My DD was wondering when the best time was to swim in the Mickey head pool? Is it better to swim in the day, evening. or night?

Early morning! The only time I let my daughter go in was early in the morning since it was crazy full of kids later and the water was a pretty gross shade of brown...couldn't see the bottom after a while..I think between all the sunscreen in there and who knows what else it really colors the water!

I have to say in defense of DCL...that they are fairly good about watching the pool water and mishaps that may happen in it...while we were cruising the mickey pool was closed at least two time to be completly drained, cleaned and refilled. I'm thinking it may have happened even more than twice...I just know for sure it was two times...because we were headding to the pool both times and found it closed.

Port days are also great. No one really uses it, especially at CC.

That's the perk of packing your bathing suits in your daybag. The pools are almost empty when you first board!

I'd have to disagree with that. On our 4-night in January, the Mickey pool was crowded. We purposely walked by all the because everyone said that embarkation day was a good/slower day. It was just as busy as any other day.

I agree with early morning.

I was always up at the drink station very early getting coffee for myself while the rest of the family slept. Each morning, the Mickey Pool was being refilled - so the water is clean and the pool appears to get drained and cleaned each night. Moreover, the pool was pretty uncrowded from opening until about 10am or so.

On port days - CC day or any other port day - the pool stayed pretty uncrowded all day long.

We found embarkation day to be medium crowd levels.

On sea days, I'd look to the Navigators to find something else to keep the kids occupied from 10 or 11ish until the next morning - the pools do empty out around 6:00pm (first dinner seating), but the water is a little gross. See what movies are playing in the afternoon, see the matinee of the stage show, or do some of the other activities on the ship.

They empty the pools every night....

We never had a problem with the pools being nasty...
The hot tubs on the other had got pretty nasty by the end of our trip..(3day)

The best day for us was cc day their was about 5 kids total in the mickey pool, no line for the slide... as a matter of fact the kids never realy waited in line for the slide,, only a few kids infront of them at any given time....

Just got back Sunday from the 3 night Nov 4 - 7 cruise.

The best times for us was right when we first go on board till about 3:00p.

Then we swam again on the Nassau day early in the am. Not crowded.

We also noticed that after it got dark out (I think it's open till 10:00p??) it was empty.

I was very disappointed to see many diapered kids in the pool, not just the designated ear. The lifeguards tried a little to stop it but missed quite a few kids when the pool got crowded.

I agree that the Mickey Pool water did get pretty gross at times; cloudy with weird things floating in it...like white fuzzy things.
