Hey everyone,

I'm just curious I had impressions send me samples and info. I especially wanted to see the mickey fan program. I'm looking at the price list and it say "over 100 disney licensing applies":headache:

Does anyone know how much that is?

Has anyone made them yourself more then 100 and did anyone at disney say anything?

I'm trying to see what route is better for me because i work at a printing place so i would get a good deal but i still would need to cut them and put them on sticks.

Thanks

I had a quote from them for invitations and the licensing fee for 15 or 20(cant remember off the top of my head) was about $240.

I think they charge a fee any time they use disney licensed products--

I am making fan programs-many disbrides have as well and I dont think there is a problem because I'm not selling them to a third party- someone correct me on this if Im wrong...

HTH

omg that is crazy... i might just make them now that i have a sample. Only thing is i love the raised ink on the one from impressions. Oh well..

I still dont get how that is considered to need a licensing considering its just 3 circle put together lol..

*Technically* Disney owns the rights to the traditional Mickey icon.

I'm not an expert on copyright law but I know that traditional commercial type uses are not permitted (without Disney's express authorization).

I know that using Disney copyrighted images for personal things (like crafts, etc.) is okay, but to make a t-shirt with Disney images to sell to friends and family (for example) is not really okay.

There's all kinds of little rules and stuff and the question of whether or not something is legal and whether or not Disney will pursue a "cease and desist" is kinda hard to really answer.

Businesses have to be a lot more careful about that stuff than individuals.

You can make them yourself! I almost had a heart Attack when I seen the prices from Impressions. OMG!

I go the sticks at Crafts Etc. online and I got a template. I did love the raised ink though, but not for that much money! :) Lots of DIS brides have made them and no one has ever said anything. I say go for it!

i did mickey crystals on my place cards and no one said anything. i think the problem comes in when you are making money off the trademark or copyright.

you can do raised ink yourself, but it'll take forever. you have to emboss it, so you'd need a stamp, embossing pad and powder and a heat thing. you could probably have a stamp made of your text and do it that way, that's a lot of work though...

::yes:: I think so too.

But, I've also seen some pretty "heated discussions" around these parts regarding copyright law and using images and all that.

In all honesty, Disney is probably not going to worry about Disney brides making programs for their guests or that sort of thing.
