I just wanted to update those with allergies about Mickey Bars regarding labeling. I noticed a few weeks ago that there was no label other than the ingredient list on the package. Usually with ice cream you will see "made in a facility with" or "made on same equipment as" etc...

We decided it was not worth the risk and I contacted the manufacturer (Nestle) after returning home to find out. Here is the response I received from them:

Thank you for your email requesting nutritional information on Nestlé® Mickey Bars... We do not use designated lines for products that contain known allergens, such as nuts and wheat. We do, however, thoroughly cleanse, sterilize and rinse every part of the machinery used in manufacturing, especially parts where any known food allergens come in contact.
The addition of "Manufactured in a facility that also processes peanuts and nuts" is not considered mandatory by the FDA standards...

They may clean the lines between products, but for us I don't feel like this is safe enough and I wish the label was more specific. It's up to you to decide what you are comfortable with, but I wanted to lets others know.

My DD doesn't eat anything that has the "made in a facility..." on the label because her allergy is so severe. She has always eaten the Mickey Bars. I know that everyone has their own level of comfort, but I can't imagine taking those away from her.

Hi Everyone! I was just wondering if anyone had been to/is going/has a recent picture of the Mickey Premium Bar and/or the Mickey Ice cream Sandwich. We just returned from a follow up Dr.'s appt - for DS-2's peanut allergy. While it is not as bad as we once thought - we are still on strict avoidance. We are starting planning for early 2013 and I would love for the kids to eat those Mickey bars....

Thanks

So, just so that I have it clear. There are no ingredients in it that are peanut related? BUT it's the issue that as per Nestle, it may have been made on the same machinery.

I just want to know that there are no actual peanut products in it.

Thanks:thumbsup2
