It was suggested I post this on the Disney Wedding thread for some great ideas, so here goes!! :goodvibes

Well 1 year from yesterday my DD will be getting married. She always wanted since she was a little girl a Disney wedding. After checking out the websites and the Disney Wedding DVD, we all admitted it was just not financially feisible. So plan 2 goes into effect. We will have her Disney wedding at home. The theme Mickey ::MickeyMo and Minnie ::MinnieMo

I bought her Mickey and Minnie Cake topper while on my anniversary trip at WDW last year. Her wedding invitations are picked out (M & M), I just ordered the flower girls basket with a wedding M & M charm on it. The save the date postcards (M&M) are being designed for us. The church programs, and wedding place cards with table cards are being printed also (M&M wedding). I ordered the Guest book (M&M) for the reception this week and it should arrive any day now. I also ordered 2 (in case one does not work well) Disney Mickey and Minnie wedding pens. They are so cute just had to get them.

I purchased a large pack of red silk rose petals and for the last 2 days and been stamping each petal with either a Mickey or a Minnie face with Pearlized white ink. These turned out so nice my daugther just went nuts when I showed her and that was before I told her I did the stamping myself. Then she really was impressed and excited. I am thinking of getting a figure of the wedding Mickey and Minnie to go by her cake with some of the petals I made sprinkled around.

One of my friends is etching M&M on some glass vases that we will insert a candle in as the table centerpieces. At the end of the night one person from each table can take home. Just have to figure out a way to pick the person.

I plan on getting her the Disney wedding Mickey and Minnie toasting flutes also as a shower gift. Oh yes a friend of mine offered the use of the gift card box she made for her daughters wedding. Would you belive it is Cindy's pumpkin coach with 2 white horses it is incredible. very detailed and rich looking makes the ones you can buy or rent look cheap.

Does anyone else have suggestions to make this her special day. All suggestions are welcomed. :lovestruc

Once you have figured out the seating arrangements, pick one person from each table and stamp a Mickey and Minnie (the ones you used on the rose petals) on the back of their place card...later in the evening you can have them check the back to see if they get to take home the centerpiece.

You will get lots of ideas here...

You might want to order the bride and groom "ears" and they can wear them during the reception.

Also, you can find Mickey confetti and spread it on the tables.

Good luck!

I heard of people making questionaire games about the couple, you could even use disney trivia. Whoever gets the most questions right at each table would win the prize.

How wonderful are you to have enough patience and want to sit and stamp rose petals?! Your daughter is so lucky to have your help!

I LOVE the rose petals idea!! Where did you buy them and how many are in a bag? THanks.

I bought them at Michaels. They came in a box of 300 petals or you can buy the small boxes of about 100 or 125 each. This was not too difficult either, I just worked on them while watching tv with DH.

Poochie,
Those rose petals look great! What kind of ink did you use?
Where do you live? I am in Buffalo. There are a few other Western New Yorkers on here too.

you should name each table a different character or different movie instead of doing the traditional numbers for tables. xo

Hey that's a good idea!!

Poochie- sounds to me like you have A LOT of great ideas already! The rose petals are adorible :thumbsup2

My mom is making my invitations and we are including some hidden mickeys on them. She bought a hole puncher that instead of punching circles, punches mickey heads. It would be a nice touch to an invitation, program, etc. We bought it at Disney last week, but you could probably find it at disneyshopping.com or something.

Good luck :)

I've seen those at Hobby Lobby, too!!! Very cute!! :)

I have a lovely garter with Mickey and Minnie golden charms on it which I found on ebay. Also for our blessing in the UK we will be having m&m bubbles on the table for the children and hopefully some Disney activities for them. We also quite like the idea of pouches of "Magic fairy dust" as favours. I have got some Mickey table confetti but have been looking for the hole punch to make more of them myself. Have you seen any votive candles with Disney things on?

I, too, had a disney wedding at home. :bride: Feel free to check out my pictures!

The most commented parts about my wedding were:

1- my aisle runner (I hand-painted white canvas w/ red paint) when facing the altar, it read "Once upon a time..." and when facing the other direction, it read "And they lived happily ever after..."

2- my balloon release (mickey head balloons from ebay in GIGANTIC boxes- what are your daughter's colors? I have red, yellow, and blue left over...)

3- my table confetti- I paper-punched red vellum mickey heads and also got the super-huge (2 1/2 inch approx) mickey head punch and punched pictures of us throughout our lives (baby, toddler, elementary school, pictures of us together) and scattered them around my mickey head etched glass candle holders- I found it easiest to go to Sams and get wallets printed of each picture I wanted to use. EVERYONE loved them! People must have snuck some home, too, because when cleaning up, LOTS were missing!

PM me if you need anything :)

Where did you get your Mickey Head punch from the large one. What a great ideas. Also loved your wedding cake we have the same topper. Did you have a problem with the baker doing the Mickey logos on the cake?

Also the grooms cake, was that the music from the sorcerors apprentice? Looks as though your wedding was wonderful. I also loved the balloons idea. But I think there might be a local law about releasing balloons here.

I plan on possibly release a dove in rememberance of loved ones who passed who could not be at the wedding.

We had no problems with our baker... she just called them "abstract french dots" :thumbsup2 As for the groomscake, yes that is the music from Sorcerer's Apprentice. DH is a musician and ADORES Fantasia (I got him the music stand from the Disney Catalog for a wedding gift), so I really wanted to incorporate that. The music was supposed to be done on the edible paper, but there was a communication problem with our baker and she just laid it on top of another protective paper. It tasted great though (we took the music off before cutting, of course).

I got my large mickey head punch from a scrapbooking store called "Archiver's". https://www.archiversonline.com/shopping/index.asp?productid=546532 You could most likely purchase one on ebay though.

I see a little girl in one of your pictures holding a fan (it looks like a fan!) and I see Mickey and Minnie on it. Was this your programs? Do you have a more upclose picture of it? It looks darling!!! :)

I can't believe it, but I don't have a close-up picture of my programs.

They were white cardstock squares (about 8in) and the sticks were about 6-7in and "wavy" (they fit nicely into your hand).

Front side:

Back side:
List of the wedding party (our family members and the bridal party)
Thank you note from Tommy and I (w/ a special thank you to our family and bridal party)... it was in a more easy to read font (comic sans, or something close). In the center (you can kind of see it in the picture that you were talking about) was a faded out clipart of the cake topper (I google-image searched "Mickey Minnie wedding" and found it.)

We rubber-cemented them together (and killed several braincells in the process, I'm sure)... w/ the stick in the middle. I then tied a ribbon around each stick, just to "polish it off"

If you have "Print Explosion" software, I'd be more than happy to email you my files.

While checking for a closeup of the program, I did find close-ups of my aisle runner (which I didn't know existed) so I put them onto my snapfish, but here they are! If you want to know how to do this (it wasn't hard and was WAY cheaper than what you could get online) I'd be more than happy to post directions! I am still SO proud of how it turned out!

Oh... and just a thought- if you want to have a "fun" non-traditional wedding, it's SUPER fun to walk back up the aisle to "Zip-a-dee-doo-dah". Everyone commented on that... it got lots of laughs and was very us. I walked down to "A dream is a wish your heart makes".

What everyone is going to remember of your daughter's wedding is what wonderful personal touches you have made. We did a lot of DIY for our non-Disney Disney wedding. We were married at Shades of Green at Disney, but didn't have a DFTW. Best of luck...can't wait to see your works in progress. Got to say...love the rose petals!

Just a little "FYI"............I found the Mickey mouse hole punch (the big one...........it's called "A Whale of a Punch") at Hobby Lobby yesterday! I was so surprised b/c I've only seen the small one at HL before and I've never seen the big one! But there it was! And it was selling for $12.99!! :) :) :)
