Hi all,

Will be visiting DLR mid October and I am interested in attending the Halloween Party with my kids. I wonder if someone could answer some questions for me:

  1. When do tickets normally go on sale? 60 days before?
  2. This is a separate event to the normal pass, correct? For example I don't need an entrance ticket to the park for that day to go to the party?
  3. What is the usual format? If its like the HKDL equivalent I guess start at 1900, parade at 2100 and fireworks at 2200?
  4. Since I am coming from Australia I don't plan on bringing any Halloween costumes for my kids, but I hazard to guess some simple costumes are available in around Disney itself? Or I should arrange this ahead of time (order something from Amazon for example)?

Thanks in advance!

1 - i believe they are on sale now?
2 - correct, separate event, do not need full-day pass, will likely be able to enter around 4pm
3 - i'm a bit unaware of what HKDL stands for but you do have your big halloween parade (twice) at night, special themed fireworks. last time we went they had a big villains performance at the castle as well
4 - costumes are for sale all over the place at disney but if you want something simple (or unique) obviously i would pack it on the flight if possible.

for what it's worth i think the fall themed decor around the kingdom (and all around disney property really) and the entire halloween experience is top notch and unforgettable. you'll have a great time.

edit - i experienced all of this in orlando, not california, but i'm assuming it's a very similar experience. apologies if there are major differences (i'm sure somebody else will point out)

Tickets usually go on sale sometime in July.

It's a separate event which you may enter at either 3:00pm or 4:00pm, depending on if the Party begins at 6:00pm or 7:00pm(depends on day of the week).

There are things available at the Resort(or nearby Target), which you could use for costumes, but there are lots of people who don't wear a costume---either way, you will be fine!:thumbsup2

Tickets are not on sale yet...the dates haven't been announced even. I imagine they will be during the next two weeks. The tickets will go on sale to the general public in mid July.

DL does not have a parade...they have a cavalcade. It is much different than WDW. There is usually a cavalcade at 8pm hour...fireworks around 9:30pm and then another cavalcade in the 10pm hour.

If you are attending a party on a Friday (or Halloween) your ticket will allow you in the park at 4pm. Most of the other weekday parties will allow you in at 3pm.

You should be able to locate Disney costumes around the park.

Mickey's Costume Party Cavalcade actually begins first at 8:30 pm, and then again at 10:30pm!

Halloween Screams Fireworks Show begins at 9:30pm!:) (Be sure to check out Sherry E's Halloween Time Super Thread for lots of fun photos, info., and current updates on everything Halloween---so fun!!!

As Cheshirecatty said, check out the HalloweenTime Superthread. On the first page (post #3) is the FAQ for MHP. Hopefully it'll have the answers to your question (plus many more) and is a good place to start when planning a trip to DLR and MHP.

Tickets for WDW's MNSSHP are already on sale, but over at DLR, not even the dates have been announced yet. As others have said, the MHP have historically allowed you enter the park three hours before the start of the party. Unlike MNSHPP, MHP starts at 6:00 pm (weekdays) and at 7:00 pm (weekend days), so entry time with a MHP is either 3:00 pm or 4:00 pm. And unlike the MNSSHP ticket, the DLR tickets have historically stated the entrance time on the ticket.

Are you describing MNSSHP at the MK? I don't recall a "big villains performance" at the castle at MHP. They have a villains meet and greet in town square, but no Villains Mix 'n Mingle show (like they do at MK). Also, as others have noted, DL has the Cavalacade, which features some of the same music, but it's not a full blow parade like Boo-To-You. DL does have a pretty awesome fireworks shows (Halloween Screams!), which fun, but it's not the same as HalloWishes.

HKDL stands for Hong Kong Disneyland.

Unfortunately, it is different between WDW and DLR. DLR primarily has decor on Main Street, NOS, Big Thunder Jamboree and some over by Space. DTD has a few banners, but that's about it. Even at WDW the decor isn't really that wide spread; a lot at the MK, some stuff at DTD, and pumpkin displays in the resorts. Still there is more decor at/throughout WDW than there is at DLR.

yeah apologies did not know there were this many differences between orlando and california halloween celebrations. i actually didn't even realize you were referring to 'land until i had already submitted the post. honest mistake

Don't worry about it!:)

Yes, I agree, you don't need to apologize. I was just clarifying that you were talking about MNSSHP (at MK) to avoid having other folks who might read this thread get confused. It's not uncommon for folks who are new to DLR's HalloweenTime to get confused between MK's MNSSHP and DL's MHP.

Great super-thread. All questions answered. Will check during July for tickets. Thanks all.

If I buy a ticket to the Halloween Party but end up not being able to attend are they refundable or can I transfer the ticket to someone else?

Which Halloween party is better? And why? WDW OR CALIFORNIA? and why?

Better is going to be different to different people. Same as if you asked which park is better.

I'm of the thought that it is like comparing apples to oranges though...

They both a lot of fun...some in the same way and some in very different ways. While there are some things that can be directly compared (e.g., trick-or-treating) other things are very different. Personally, if you go to either party expecting the other, you'll probably be disappointed. So go with an open mind and do not think of one as being better than the other.

Here is a link to a compare and contrast of the two parties:

Where did you find the sale dates? I have a Disney Visa and own DVC but I haven't received any information yet to purchase tickets :(

Yay! Thanks for this! Is the discount ONLY for Annual Passholders?

No, there discounted prices are available to AP holders, DVC members, and Disney Visa Card holders. Note that the advance purchase discount is a not available for all nights.
