Michigan and DVC

Hi! We are in Dearborn. My Dh (Kevin) and I bought our OKW and VB resale 2 years ago. We have been going to Disney 2 to 3 times a year for the past 6 years. We just wish we would have bought into DVC sooner! We have two children. Our DD just celebrated her 7th birthday at VB/BWV in May and our DS will be 5 next month. He expects a trip to Disney for his birthday, too! lol He will have to wait. We will be at OKW in early December and then 5 weeks later in early January. Can't wait!!

How about an ex-Michigander? Lived in Saginaw for 62 years and moved to Wisconsin last year to be near family. My wife and I were staying at POR-Riverside in February and went with my son to a presentation on the first morning the BCV was shown. Loved the location and needless to say we both purchased a DVC Membership. Never consider owning a membership until that morning although we had vacationed at WDW since 1983. Our first trip is scheduled for September and then again in January 2003. We will try to make another trip in the fall of 2003 with the whole family…if I have enough points.

Hi All- another Michigan family checking in........DH and I live in Brighton with our three kids. We have twins who are 13 (DS & DD), and a DS6. We've been going to WDW since our honeymoon in 1987 and finally this year for our 15th anniversary DH surprised me with DVC. :D
We're looking forward to our 1st trip home in February!
I am very familiar with some of the other MI locations...
Amy-I grew up in Redford around Beech & West Chicago
LisaR-We lived in Dearborn for the first 7 years we were married. I could list quite a few things I miss about living in Dearborn!

So glad to hear from all the Mi DVCers:earsgirl:

As an afterthought...........I have friends who have been members for a few years that told me the lmembers had a meeting at Great Lakes Crossing a few years ago that they attended. They said it was fun........was anyone else there?

Lars: You grew up just a couple of miles away from where we live! Small world. :)

Lars - dh and I were at that get together at Great Lakes Crossing - it was a lot of fun to meet other DISers and connect the faces with the names I've seen here - I am hoping that another will be in the making soon - I've lost touch with some - I do see some in chat once in a while.
Lars - you also grew up close to where I live now and DiznEeyore - you are also in my area - I'm off Ann Arbor Trail between Middlebelt and Inkster Roads.
"It's A Small World After All" :D

Lars,
I miss the Brighton area so much. We lived in Howell for 10 years before moving back to Dearborn. At that time, Howell didn't have a Super Walmart, Meijers, etc. So, we always went to Brighton to shop, eat, etc. It is such a great area. However, when we first moved out there, it took my dh 45 minutes one way to drive to work. By the time we moved, it was taking him 1 1/2 hours one way on a good day! So, while everyone else was moving out of the city to Livingston County, we left the country for the city! I miss my 10 acres. However, my dh has a 5 minute drive to work, 15 minutes on a bad day!

There was a meet at Great Lakes Crossing. We were planning on going but one of our kids got sick and we couldn't make it. Maybe it is time to schedule another one!

Does DVC wanna-be count. I've stayed at VWL and we'll be staying at BCV in Feb. DH and I go to WDW so he can relax and enjoy the restuarants. DD and I go to play at the parks.Susan

redd45... Sure wannabes are welcome. We are a friendly bunch.

LisaR.... Most of my youth was spend in Dearborn. I actually graduated from Edsel Ford High School and I still work in Dearborn.

Hi! We are a family of five. Three sons (11,8,4). We live in Westland.Hope to be moving to Northville soon. We own at VB,BWV,VWL,& BCV.

Lisa-
I miss Buddy's Pizza, Westborn Market, and the Dearborn Farm Market just to name a few. I also miss the fireworks at the Homecoming!
Terry-
I bank at the DFCU right by your house & spend a lot of money at the Costco a mile or so away from you. DH works at 10 & Halstead.
I'm still in the Livonia area a lot because my folks still live at Inkster & 96.

I am a Temporary MI resident! We are here in Port Huron for at least 3 months for work. Anyone else from the Port Huron area? I would also love to attend a get together if you have one. We own at BWV and BCV.
Any fav spots to recomend to this new, temporary transplant? (we have already been to Mackinaw Island)?

We are also from Northern Michigan just outside of Traverse City. DH and I just joined a couple months ago and will be going home to OKW in January with DD, SIL and 2 grandkids age 5 years and 5 months. We've been to Disney World 3 times in last 3 years. Stayed at All Star Movies twice and Disney Institute bungalows last.

DizneyDawn-
I think that you should see Greenfield Village and/or The Henry Ford Museum in Dearborn while you're here. That seems to be the place that all my relatives want to go to when they're here.

Grew up on the west side, pretty close to Redford (6 mile and Telegraph area). Went to Cass Tech, then Wayne State. Moved down to Oklahoma got married and haven't been back.

It's now me (Linda), DH Mike and DS Mike (19). We own at BWV.

What? Am I the ONLY UP-er??? I'm just outside of Iron Mountain, north of Wisconsin. Anybody else up here? Technically, I'm not a dvc'r, my brother is. DH and I go on HIS points! :)

Hi, SCDizneyDawn! Welcome to Michigan. Hope you enjoy it while you're here.

Another place you may want to go is Frankenmuth. Shop the shops, buy some Frankenmuth fudge, go to Bronner's Christmas store (humongous!), eat chicken dinner at Zehnder's or Bavarian Inn, etc. Fun and picturesque place to go. :D

Another Livonia resident checking in! We live at Plymouth & Farmington. My wife and I purchased at HH & BWV in 1999. No kids yet, but not too far in the future!

We just used our points to stay two nights at the Disneyland Hotel in Paris (We were in Europe for two weeks and had to get our Disney fix!). If you ever get the chance, stay there!! It takes exactly 30 seconds to walk to the gates of Disneyland Park, and about 3 minutes to Walt Disney Studios or Disney Village!!

I helped organize the DVC meet at GLC. It was a lot of fun to meet people. Some of us even went to Rainforest Cafe for lunch after. :) GLC is a great place to meet!

Lizziepooh- we LOVE Traverse City and visit at least 3 times a year! :)

Wow, there are a lot of us! We might need to have another meet!

kamy :)
