Our last day, so there is packing to be done! Alarm is set for 6.20am and we are all packed up and ready to go by 7.30am! DH takes the bags over to the concierge for the Disney Express service (you can purchase this for the return journey from the concierge , I think it was E4 per bag?
I have developed an infection in one of my toes, have been dosing it with antibiotic cream, but today I am limping! I take paracetomol to control the pain so that we can carry on and enjoy our last day.
We walk/limp round to the entrance to the Disneyland Park. DH catches us up on the way. We arrive at the security check area at 7.45, we have a Good Morning Fantasyland Breakfast booked for 8.00am. However the security guards won't let anyone through, apart from CMs, until 8.00am.
Once we are allowed through our breakfast booking slips are checked at the main gate and we are permitted to enter. (If you don't have your slip with you, you are made to queue at the Guest Services window, presumably for a CM to check the computer booking records.) We are directed to the train, I know we could walk but DS2 loves trains! After about 10 mins the train departs and then stops again at Fronteirland for about 5 mins for some unknown reason! We finally arrive at Fantasyland station and get to the restaurant at 8.30. The Chalet de la Marionette is quite pretty and we seem to have beaten the rush. Same nice breakfast food, but paper cups and plates. I stop the others from lingering too long over their breakfast and we leave at 9.05!
It is a gorgeous morning, bright and sunny. We decide on the Teacups for our first ride of the day. DH then goes off on a mission to obtain Fastpasses, while I do the Teacups again with the boys. These are not very 'spinny' at all, maybe it's just too heavy with me in it, ha ha! DS1 then decides to go on Dumbo, but DS2 doesn't want to. Luckily DS1 is allowed to ride on his own, while we watch. He had to wait 5 mins or so even at 9.20! We then all ride the Carousel, DH gets back as we start and takes some photos.
DH has got FPs for Peter Pan, Buzz, Big Thunder, Star Tours, Space mountain! It was great being early in Fantasyland as we wouldn't have queued to do Teacups, Dumbo , Carousel etc. so this gave us a chance to try them without waiting!
We then saw Pinocchio's ride had just opened so we had a go on that, fairly standard dark ride. We have a toilet break and then it's FP time for Peter Pan! This is a wonderful ride, the lights are really pretty, the boys really enjoy it, and we are sorry that we haven't done it before. There have always been 40 mins wait whenever we've been past and no FPs left. The boys then explore the Labyrinth while I go in search of coffee. No carts open yet so didn't find any! I admire the scenery and rest my foot. Park getting busier now.
We meet by the Castle (good old walkie talkies!) and head to Discoveryland. DH and DS1 head for Space Mountain, DS1 is too small so they go on Star Tours instead. DS2 and I don't fancy Star Tours so we go for a drink in the Hyperion Cafe, which is empty! I get my coffee and DS2 has a carton of milk and enjoys the cartoons. It is now 11am and FP time for Buzz!
We enjoy our last ride on Buzz, each time we go on we spot different details. The large Buzz in the queuing area is great. We come out, avoiding the Gift Shop yet again!
We walk over to Fronteirland for our first go on Big Thunder Mountain. I love this ride and we immediately go and get some more FPs for another go later. DH heads back for a go on Space Mountain and I give in to the pleas to look round the shops. We wander through the shops on Main St but the boys are only interested in the ones with toys in! Catch a glimpse of Dapper Dan's through the back window. We meet DH by the bandstand and he pops out to deposit a bag in the Luggage Service.
We then decide to do a full circuit on the train so we join the queue but it seems to be taking a very long time. After about half an hour we are at the front of the queue, we get on the train but have to get off at Fronteirland, as we are running out of time. We have a reservation at Walt's for ipm, and we get there about 1.10!
We have a lovely relaxing lunch at Walts. Initially we are given menus in Spanish and Italian, I have to admit defeat and ask for an English one! I have chicken caesar salad and spaghetti primavera, DH has goat's cheese parcel and spicy cod. The boys have ravioli and Mickey's puzzle, which consists of white chocolate which you can colour in with different sauces using a paintbrush! DH has strawberry shortcake for dessert and we both have coffee. Relaxed and replete we head out into a very busy Main St.
It is now nearly time for our Fastpasses for BTM (2.15-2.45). DS2 decides he doesn't want to go on it again, so DH takes him round to Fantasyland, while DS1 and I have their Fastpasses!!! The standby line for BTM is now 75 mins. We wait maybe 15 mins for our go. The waterfall has been turned up since this morning so we get a bit splashed! We then go round again for another go! It is very hot in the ouside parts of the queuing area. There are 2 tracks running, one for standby and the other for FPs.
We reluctantly leave Fronteirland and meet the others at Main St station. We walk through Liberty Arcade to avoid the crowds waiting for the parade. DS2 and DH had been to see what the queue was like for Peter Pan but it had been too long so they had been on the train from Fantasyland back to Main St. We leave the park and walk to the Studios.
We wait over 20 mins for the Studio Tram Tour. Some good special effects but feels a bit disjointed. Now it really is time to leave. My foot is very painful by now so I go to collect our bag from the Luggage Office and go to the station to wait. DH takes the boys into Disney Village for some shopping. Eventually they return and we go to the Eurostar check-in. We collect the bags from Disney Express and then we go through. All very efficient.
We board the train at 6pm and relax in our lovely comfy seats. I have to take my trainers off as my foot has swollen up. We all suddenly feel very tired. The coach is not very busy, it was full on the way out. A nice crew member offers us drinks and I have some white wine, DH and DS1 have orange juice and DS2 has apple juice. The boys show me their purchases, DS2 has a big cuddly Pluto and DS1 a 'robot arm' thing that picks things up.
Just as we are about to depart, UK immigrartion boards the train and they check everyone's passports, which causes about 10 mins delay. We are quickly served our meal and more wine. The meal is pasta with ham in a cheese sauce, it is very nice but I'm not sure what the pat of butter was for! There is choc mousse cake for pudding but it is too sickly for our taste. DS2 eats half his pasta and promptly falls asleep. He stays that way until London!
We are served tea and coffee, the boys have hot chocolate but DS2 doesn't wake up to drink his. The boys also get a packet of dried apricots. DS1 tries to get to sleep but doesn't, I snooze, DH reads.
We arrive into Waterloo about 8.45. I have to put my trainers back on, which is very painful. We then cross the concourse to find the bus stop, with me limping all the way. We get a bus to Euston to find we have just missed a train to Northampton and have to wait an hour for another one. Eventually we get on a train and manage to get seats, thankfully. DS1 now falls asleep while DS2 stays awake!
We ring a taxi to collect us from the station and eventually arrive home at 12.05am!
We are really exhausted the next day and I can hardly walk. But we did have a fantastic time and we are planning a trip to Florida next February. We would like to return to DLP, perhaps at Christmastime, or to experience the new attractions at the Studios.
Thanks for reading! I will try to sort some photos soon, I promise!
