Michael's Children Names????

Yes, his name is Prince Michael Jackson II. Is it really muc better than "Blanket"?

It isn't any worse then what a lot of people name their kids-at least it is pronounceable Some of the names people here on DIS, not even celebrities, give their names make me raise my eyebrows more then this.

I don't have a problem with the names by themselves but I can promise you it's gonna come back to bite those 2 boys. When they're old enough to worry about credit they're going to have a helluva time keeping their credit straight. Prince Michael 1 better hope that Prince Michael 2 pays his bills on time!

ETA: I must sheepishly admit, we call Christian "Blanket-head". He discovered the joys of peek-a-boo about 2 years ago and will put just about anything over his head--leather jacket, laundry basket, Snuggli, beach towel, shoe box, etc. It's a little like seeing a 5'9" "ghostie" walking around the house.

It's no different than naming a son after his father and grandfather and great grandfather etc.

I see plenty of "unkind" parents who named their children something stupid. Naming a brother-set something-something I and II isn't bad at all.

Prince is apparently Michael's mother's father's name, so it's a family name (I suspect "Jermajesty" is not). I agree, though, that calling siblings by the virtual same name just creates problems. The older boy uses "Prince" as his name, and the younger one can't exactly go by "Michael" so he's stuck with the baby nickname until he's old enough to rebel. When you share a name with a parent or grandparent or uncle/aunt, it can be considered a tribute or family tradition. When you share the same name with your brother, it must seem like your own identity was an afterthought to your parent(s).

I will say I thought Oprah was rude to Jermajesty. It's a terrible name, and she's a grownup -- she should know that she was hardly being original and mocking a child for something he has no power over is mean.

I think giving two of your children the same name is very different from giving your name to your son.

I just assumed that those boys were named after the singer "Prince" or whatever he is calling himself these days.

It wasn't uncommon for Catholic families to name all of their girls Mary ______, Mary Margaret, Mary Kathleen, etc. and then call them by their middle name. I don't see anything wrong with that-BUT they did have different middle names .

As far as I know, Blanket is a nickname. The daughters name is Paris Michael if I remember correctly, and the boys are Prince Michael and Prince Michael II (that is Blankets real name).

I think the girl's name is either Paris Katherine Michael or Paris Katherine. I know Katherine is in there some where.

Oprah is a weird name, because it is a mis-spelling. She has said that her parents meant for her name to be ORPAH, after a character in the Old Testament, but the hospital mis-spelled it on the birth certificate, and I guess they liked it better. (So do I; either way it's unusual, Oprah is much more pleasant-sounding than Orpah to an English-language-speaking ear.)

Prince the singer really was named Prince at birth, it's his real name: Prince Rogers Nelson. I can buy that "Prince" is a family name; it can be a surname, but by making them PMI and PMII he couldn't help but look bizarrely narcissistic. (Yes, George Foreman, that goes for you, too.)

Five will get you 10 that one or both of the boys will end up changing their names in adulthood, if only for professional reasons. If they end up being performers it will effectively be all but required for legal reasons, to protect copyright.

My dad told me, way back when he started school in the mid-1930's, the neighbor boy was in his grade. The neighbor boy didn't answer when his real name was called because he thought he was "Pooter".

He looks NOTHING like Michael was born looking, but dose kinda resemble the massively altered version. They all do. I cannot help but wonder about that.

"Blanket" IMO is nearly the spitting image of MJ when MJ was that age.

Yeah, that's what I was referring to. If Blanket is not MJ's, they did a good job matching a donor. He does not look like MJ after the changes and neither do the other 2. All those kids have olive skin tones. If you look at them next to a white person, you would notice. Their grandfather is part white and Native American and has blue eyes. Their mother is pale pale white with blue eyes and blond hair. There are biracial kids who come out looking mostly white. My son's father is darker than MJ ever was and our son is very light with blue eyes. He had a second child with another white woman and she is also very light(as light as me at 2) and has blue eyes and strawberry blonde hair. Next to his dad, my son appears to be white, but when he is next to me, you can see that he has a more olive skin tone. Genes are not predictable.

Regardless, they were his kids. The Prince name goes way, way back in their family from what I have read(back to slave days). Prince is better than the names other celebrities pick, IMHO.
