'A dolphin is used to being supported by water pressure evenly spread over every inch of its skin. When it is taken out of the water, the whole weight of the dolphin rests on a narrow strip of skin which is touching the ground. Any flesh or organs near the ground are bruised and crushed by the weight of the dolphin pressing down on them.' (source Sea Shepherd site)

this picture is perverse.

we had a whole discussion about that seaquarium here before.
I agree with you.
but i have to ask, where did you say you got the picture?
it almost looks photo shopped to me.
why is the dog there?

I just looked at that facebook page, I don't know what to think.
I don't do facebook, do you? If you do put a comment on that photo about the dolphin , what you quoted here, see if they respond. or remove it.

OMG ..are you serious that you cant express views on here and will be banned ?
Well,I agree that picture is disturbing and ITA that you should write on their FB page and ask them. That place is a "little shop of horrors" They let that dolphin Hollywood die..was dead for days before they reported it.And the whole story with Lolita in the illegal sized tank and we need to ask what is going on that they break the law and continue to get away with it !Even Ric o'Barry says that when he worked there he was disturbed because they used to drop the dead mammals at the Miami Dump! That's where they should place that whole Seaprison..release the beautiful mammals-especially Lolita -and then place the whole SeaPrison in the Miami dump. That place is crumbling down around its fans..watch Lolita-Slave to Entertainment and you will see how they go behind the scenes to document how those bleachers are barely standing!!
And please mods..don't ban Julieannbabe and her posts. They are very informative and she has been a member here forever!

I think this is photoshopped. If you look at the shadows the dolphin's shadow is straight down like the sun is directly overhead while the dog's is slanted like the sun is lower in the sky.

It makes me assume this photo is not showing what it is alleging.

No one said you cannot express your views, but some of the posts that have gone on have been downright nasty on a board designed to be about vacation planning. Those types of posts are not appropriate for the DIS

yes, there was something I couldn't put my finger on that I thought photoshop at first too.
the sun is a good catch.
I am thrown off by the fact it is on their facebook.
but i suppose it could be anyones facebook using their name.
I don't know.
I checked snopes for it, but there was nothing.

I agree with everything you have said...we went ther about 3 years ago, and it was STILL a Dump! They need to tear it down, and release the Dolphins and Whales, and Sea World needs to be closed down too!

Releasing them would be cruel, as many of the animals don't know how to hunt.

yeah, like that will every happen  while you are at why dont we close all the zoos and shut down AK because its cruel to keep animals in cages...popcorn::

Public outcry & lack of attendance is the only way to close these places down. My children have never been to an aquarium like this. Unfortunately I went to them as a child before my parents knew better. But even as a 5 or 6 year old I felt it was very wrong to have these beautiful marine mammals on display doing unnatural behaviours.

We do not go to zoos, circuses or anywhere else animals are on display just for the sake of entertainment. I can never understand how people who say they love animals will pay to see them in such environments. And people like Jack Hanna who parade frightened animals on TV make me crazy!

The Dolphins are not out of the water long. And I have never seen a dog at Seaquarium aside from a few guide dogs. They do come out of the water during the show but it is very brief.

The Miami Sea Aquarium has very poor tanks for their animals, and Sea World seems to focus more on using animals for entertainment. Most zoos have state of the art exhibits and exist to educate the public about conservation.

I meant to add a note about the dog's tag. I think it is a therapy dog tag but I just can't place the organization right now. I know it's not the Delta Society but can't remember where I have seen it before.

But therapy dog or not, the dog has no place being near a dolphin.

You won't be banned as long as you don't use offensive language. Many people post things like yours and we're still on the DIS.

I agree it looks photo shopped.

I just googled Miami seaquarium and the site posted on the thread is NOT the same site as the Facebook link from the Seaquarium site.

Sorry, I made a mistake.
