I've been searching online for the answer but can't find it. So wondering if there is anyone from Miami here that can answer these questions.

We/'re staying in South Beach on Ocean Avenue for 2 nights following a cruise. We will not have a car.

What is the best way to get to the Children's Museum, Bayside Marketplace or even the airport.

I found this website about the Airport Flyer. Can we take that from South Beach to the Airport with 3-4 suitcases? or splurge on a taxi which may be about $50.

Wondering about taking city transit to the Children's Museum, and then going from there to Bayside for the evening. However it looks as if the bus stops on the otherside of the highway and there is no cross walk. :confused3

Miami is really not known for having a good public transportation system. It is probably best to stay away from it and just get a taxi where you need to go. The buses and the metro-rail are not good quality.

I know Miami does have a hop-on/hop-off bus tour which should take you around to the bigger destinations in the city. It includes bayfront park and a couple museums and entertainment venues. Just do a google for the miami hop on/off bus tours. I believe it is a flat fee for a day to use the bus as much as you like to get around. The bus runs continuously throughout the day.

For the airport get the cab or the flyer, that would be the best way to go.

I will be visiting Fort Lauderdale in May and wanted to go to Miami to check it out. Never been. So the information on the hop on and off bus is great. I was looking on the internet for things to do in Miami but didn't see that . DAH. Is there any info on Fort Lauderdale that you could share.

They have a cool science center with an IMAX in Ft.Lauderdale. I haven't been around the area too much so i can't give too much info.

I know their science museum is also near their downtown area that has a lot of restaurants and is a nice place to just walk around.

You might want to look a renting a car. Cab fare is not cheap! Not sure about the bus system.

We have a car booked before our cruise and are going out to the Everglades.

After our cruise we thought we would stick to the South Beach shuttle and just taxi it to the museum and Bayside. We can walk to the Duck Tour and the beach from our hotel.

Parking just seemed so expensive in the Miami Beach area!

I live down here. Public transporation is NOT good here. If you are planning to leave the South Beach area and you can rent a car, that would be your best bet and probably cheaper than paying for taxi and airport shuttles.
