Good afternoon! Looking to book a hotel in Miami pre-cruise, and trying to stay loyal to Hyatt for points purposes. Anyone have any thoughts on Hyatt Centric Brickell vs. Hyatt Regency? I'm not familiar at all with Miami, but they're pretty close to each other location-wise, and similar in terms of brand-level within Hyatt, so trying to figure out why one is twice as much as the other for the same night...

I just looked up the locations for you. Brickell one is the more expensive Hyatt location because that has become the new trendy area in downtown Miami with dining and nightlife. The other Hyatt is right off the 395 where there’s major construction to build a new double decker 395 so it’s a bit crazy driving on the old one as they have totally altered the traffic flow and the signage is not great if you don’t know where you are going. If you are Ubering to the port it would be cheaper to Uber from the Hyatt regency than the brickell location but there aren’t as many restaurants you can walk to the night before. If you have a flight coming into Miami late in the day where you won’t have time to explore I’d pick the regency, otherwise pick brickell even though it will cost a bit more.

We have stayed at the Hyatt Regency twice prior to DCL cruises out of Miami. Typical Regency-level hotel, with nice restaurant, usual room amenities, etc. We have not stayed at the Hyatt Centric Brickell, but it has not been available for some of our pre-cruise dates. As you noted, both are in/near the downtown business district and about the same distance from the port. For our typical one-night stay pre-cruise, I’d vote with my wallet and choose the less expensive option.
