Hello!
I am looking for Miami hotel (close to the port) recommendations. I would like to hear the good, the bad and the ugly so that I can narrow down my list and make reservations.

We enjoy staying in the Brickell district - the Hyatt in our case - because there are restaurants and shops in walking distance and the taxi ride to the port is short on the morning of the cruise.

In addition to the Hyatt Centric Brickell, there is also the nearby Hyatt Regency. The Regency is usually less expensive.

The Embassy Suites was great for us... it has a nice pool, decent dinner in the hotel restaurant, free breakfast, and nice big suites. May depend on how much time you have... we arrived late afternoon and were leaving the next morning. If we'd had more time, we might have liked to be in a neighborhood like Brickell where we could walk and explore a little.

We stayed at the Holiday Inn Port of Miami. It was perfect for 2 nights before our cruise. There was a shopping area (with plenty of dining choices) right across the street. Also the main stop for the hop-on/hop-off busses (which we did on our full day). It was less than 10 minutes taxi to the port most of which was actually the ride around the port area itself, the bridge to the port island was almost right across from the hotel. We walked out of the hotel and there was a cab waiting. I want to say it was like $15-$20 (I think most cabbies were charging a flat fee)

Stayed at Intercontinental last November and wouldn’t hesitate to stay again, lovely hotel and really close to the port (less than 10mins drive), nice to wake up to a view of the port and right next to Bayfront park & Bayside Marketplace

My go to hotel near the port is the Intercontinental on Biscayne Bay. The views are incredible and it's only a couple of minutes walk to the Bayside and the restaurants and bars. It's also a very easy walk over to the Brickell District and all the restaurants there and some great shopping in Brickell City Centre Mall.

Another vote for Biscayne Bay area. We've stayed at the Miami Marriott Biscayne Bay a couple times, and it's pretty good. If you get a bay-view room that's the best part. Here was our view in the morning:IMG_0962.jpg

We just stayed there this month and had a very similar view. Not the best Marriott property ever, but it was a good price and with a bay view you can stare at your cruise ship the entire night before ;). We had a $100 hotel credit for booking with Amex so we ate dinner outside at the hotel restaurant and it was very good food with a nice view of the bay. Rooms are a tad tiny but no big deal for a night before cruise stay. We slept four in a two queen room. Very few hotels are this close. Its a 5-10 ride to port. Good coffee shop with espresso machine for your morning drink.

I just wanted to say do NOT stay at the hotel in the Airport.....that was rough. Never again. Room felt moist. Power outlets did not work in the entire room. Even when we moved rooms it was still bad.

Didn't the Miami Marriott Biscayne recently undergo a refurbishment? I thought I read that. Could you tell during your stay?

We are staying at the Hyatt Centric Brickell. We wanted to stay at one of the two hotels Disney offered transfers from to make it easy as we will have a lot of luggage (23 days on the ship and another 4 in Spain). Even though Disney was sold out of rooms in their block, there was room on their transfers. We were able to book the room directly with Hyatt and then add transfers through Disney.

We stayed there before our Virgin cruise earlier this month and yes, it was much nicer than I remember it being in 2021. Also, they do charge a $30 "resort fee", but at least they give it back to you in a $30 dining credit...

I didn't really remember what it looked like when we stayed in 2018, but it certainly had some work done. One difference we saw was the removal of a concierge lounge near the top that had the wonderful bay view. Instead there is an M Club on the ground floor. Glad we had the bay view with our room this time.

Not at the port, but for convenience, the DCL hotel, EB Miami was nice. You would need to tax/Uber to anything, as there was nothing nearby. Quiet though, servive there was very good, great restuarant. If you do get adventurous, and we did, there was a little diner style/liquor store as short walk down the sidewalk. Filled with locals, we found the best cubanos and empanadas we have ever had!
