Miami cruise - which airport?

Hello! I have booked a 5 day Bahamian cruise out of Miami for next March (on the magic). First time cruising. Looking for advice for where to fly into.

We will be flying out of Detroit (DTW) but not sure what airport to fly into. Preferably direct. If we fly into an airport outside of Miami, we will need to take into account that we’ll have a 6 year old and 8 year old we need to transport. Thanks!

Either Miami or Fort Lauderdale. Southwest, for example, does not fly into Miami.

Will getting to and from Fort Lauderdale with kids be a pain?

Seems like into Miami may be easier because they would have shuttles that don’t require car seats?

I’m checking prices on delta and flying into FLL and then back out of MIA seems like it could be a good compromise. Depending on how we would get from FLL to Miami and how much it costs, that is.
