MHT Southwest - wait for rates or book now?

SHarrison,

I think that $79 is about the lowest SW will go, unless they come with MHT being the "featured city" and I still don't think it would go much lower. The actual full fare is $183 and right now there are fares of: $79, $99, $119, $129, $139, $149, and $159 in addition to the $183!!!

Sounds like it will be worth it to pay the extra parking and get this off of your mind, since you won't save oodles on fares if you wait and fly on SW.

Happy Anniversary very early!

:) Kim

I don't know if this helps or not, but the $79 fare from MHT to MCO is not the usual fare, unless you travel something like Monday-Wednesday. My DH will only fly on the weekends, and so we typically have flights that are $200 to $250.

The last time MHT was the featured city was back when Southwest was just launching flights from there - LOL! Oh wait, maybe during leaf-peeping season, I think... :smooth:

I *really* like flying out of Manchester, and often pay a little more for the flight. I'm a small town gal though, and the thought of leaving my car for a week in Boston sends me the willies! I've had two cars broken into - once in Watertown and once in Boston. I love my current car too much to make it a third time! LOL! (great, now I just jinxed myself in Manchvegas now... LOL!)

I agree! Whenver we go into Logan Airport, we usually take the C&J bus and leave our car safely in Portsmouth (close to home for us) - the parking costs can be so expensive and I do not like the thought of our car just sitting in a city parking lot for a week!

LOL - I'm in North Hampton. :D I call it 'Mayberry.'

Like iluvTink says, give MCO a try sometime - it's a world of difference.

I hope nobody minds but I am going to add a SW related question to this thread.
How far in advance are you allowed to book with SW? I am going to Chicago over Columbus Day weekend and most likely will be flying SW for the first time and I was wondering when should I expect to see the dates I need on SW's website?

Thanks

MickeyMac,
We are neighbors!! I live in Kensington, only 5 minutes from North Hampton and my DH and I hope to move there within a year or so...we love the community! Hopefully the next time around, we will fly from MHT, but I went ahead and booked the JetBlue flights last night. Sigh of relief!!

Hi TandyR,

My experience has been that SW releases its upcoming calendar about 4-5 months in advance. When I was waiting for the dates to extend beyond 6/7/2004, they sent the announcement out on 2/17/2004 and I was able to book for our July 29 WDW/Wonder trip that very day. I would keep an eye out every Tuesday (you get SW's e-mail specials, right?), but I wouldn't expect October fares 'til May or June.

If you don't get SW's e-mails on Tuesday, sign up NOW on the SW website!

SHarrison - kinda thought you were close! LOL!

I know what you mean aobut the relief in booking. I almost waited until JetBlue fares came out, but DH had other ideas... LOL!

Tandy, I'm sure no one minds! I did what 'Tink suggests and get the SW airfare email - you might want to consider adding yourself to the other carriers who fly that route - they all have different specials running at different times, and you never know what might come across.

We always fly the non-stop from MHT to MCO (8:30 AM), and I the past three flights have been 175-195 per person. I think it's a great deal for a non stop!
