MHP question: is DL doing allergy friendly treat trails like WDW this year?

A question for those of you who have gone to MHP this year...

Starting this year at WDW they are offering a treat trail experience for people with food allergies, gluten issues, etc. If you have dietary restrictions you can get a special (different colored) treat bag & at treat trail stations they give you tokens which you can cash in at a central location & pick out treats you like which are free of the items you need to avoid. They are offering treats like Enjoy Life cookies (free of the 8 most common food allergens), Surf Sweet candies, etc.

I do not eat egg and dairy & was excited to hear about this experience & hoped they'd have it at DL too, but I have poured over all the map pamphlets, photos and videos from the first parties this year and I do not see anything like this happening at DL, from what I can tell.

Can anyone who has attended the parties and is vegan or has food allergies/intolerances let me know if DL is offering anything like this experience this year? Or is it still a case of walking up, asking for apple slices & that's your main option? I hate putting cast members out, making them dig for specific treats for me in a big vat of treats, so if this is the only way I can get treats I won't have to toss out due to ingredients issues, I probably won't hit treat trails this year. I am attending parties on 10/5 & 10/10 and would appreciate any info so I can decide whether it is worthwhile to go through the treat trails, or if I should just skip them & focus on other party experiences instead.

Thanks in advance! 24 more hours until my flight to Disneyland! Yay! I can't wait!

DL does not have the special bags but the non-candy snacks are always readily available in the bin the CM's pull from, separated out so there's no digging around. We ask for them sometimes just cause we like them and it's a pleasant, hassle-free, quick thing. This year we got:

Apples, Carrots, Pirates Booty, Enjoy Life Cookies, Graham Crackers, Pretzels, Fruit Crisps.

Thank you, I appreciate the info! I am glad to hear that they typically keep some non-candy snacks aside...i know I can for sure have the apples & Enjoy Life cookies, possibly the fruit crisps and maybe even the crackers too! I am glad to hear that they typically keep some aside...the only treat trail broadcast I saw had things like apple slices & pretzels mixed in with the other treats (maybe a trick or treater decided they didn't want them & tossed them back??), so I thought they always had them mixed in. Can't wait until my first party! Less than 48 hours to go now!

I was on the lookout for vegan treats for my friend who I am going with again on the 24th, but I didn't really get to go to as many treat stations as I would have liked (due to the company I was in). I did notice that they had set some things aside. The vegan treats I noticed were Chips, Pretzels, Apple Crisps, and Clif bars.

Just went yesterday, 10/3, and did not see any specific vegan/allergy trails or specific bags. Also, not every trick or treat station had apples or carrots. Trick or treat lines are long and I would hate for you to waste your precious Halloween party time in a line and only get one bag of apples. I would suggest you just enjoy the party atmosphere and do the character meets. Since Toon Town opens early, go there first and line up for all the characters in their Halloween outfits since that line gets long and toon town is only open for 2 hours. Watch the parade (which is fantastic) and fireworks since people start staking out spots early. Maybe go to restaurant to get a food that is more appropriate for your diet rather than do the trick or treat trails. If you want to be very sure, go to Guest Relations at the front at the start of the party, to ask if they provide anything for allergy sufferers .

Thank you for your suggestions. I was hoping they would be doing the allergy friendly/vegan friendly options like WDW has started doing, but since they aren't, my plan is to hit the AP area to get the AP tote bag & grab some treats, if they have any I can have, but to not spend too much time looking for treats. I might be with a bud for part of my second party, now I know that if she wants to hit the treat trails while we are together I might as well tag along instead of waiting at the exit.

Thank you all for your observations and suggestions...hopefully the new allergy friendly system they are using at WDW will work it's way over to DL next year! I am hearing really good feedback from some of my WDW friends with nut allergies & celiac disease.

I don't have any specific experience with this, so don't take me at my word, but last year I thought I saw some discussion about being able to take your bag of candy to Guest Services at the end of the night and exchanging it for either an allergy-friendly bag of candy or get some kind of gift card or token that you can take to the candy store to buy your own treats. I'm really not sure how it works, but I would say there's no harm in stopping in at the beginning of the party to ask what they can offer.

Also regarding the alternative snacks being mixed in or not, I noticed that some stations had them set aside and you had to request them, some had them separate but they automatically gave you one along with the candy, and some stations just gave out non-candy. I liked seeing that because it means that even kids who would never request carrots will still have something healthy in their bag for later. I haven't gone through everything we got yet, but I know we got at least cliff bars, apple slices, carrots, dried fruit chips, and baked chips.
