This October we plan on purchasing APs on the first day of our stay (Oct. 10), which is also a MHP day. We will not arrive until later in the afternoon. If we arrive after the party starts, is there a way to get our APs and enter DCA our first night, or is the only AP processing center still in DL (haven't done this in 7 years)? I'd rather not bother with getting Park Hoppers and then converting them, unless that is our only option.

AP's are processed at the ticket booths, not in the parks, so you will be fine!

There's no AP processing center anymore. You just get your AP at the ticket booth, they hand it to you, and you go into whichever park you want. At some point your first day you have to get your picture taken by a PP photographer.

This is a blast from the past! I remember the AP processing center. The picture that is on my profile at Disneyland (pops up on the screen when they scan it) is me from around 10 years ago when they took the AP ID photo in Disneyland! I'm kinda surprised the cast members at the turnstiles don't question me about it.

I have a question about AP's and Park Hoppers and am wondering if it can be answered on this thread. We're going to go to DL in January for four days. I'm thinking about getting DH and the girls the park hoppers but getting myself an AP (for the dining discount, the PP+ and the fact that my 40th birthday will be the following November and I would like to come back). My question is that it seems like you don't get the Magic Morning option with an annual pass, which makes sense. But I would really like to be able to do that with my family. Is it possible to buy a park hopper with the early entry and then upgrade it to the annual and keep the early entry? I'm guessing not but I am dreaming...

Never mind. I just did a chat with a Cast Member and found that I wouldn't be able to.

You'd have to use the Magic Morning before you upgraded. But if you used the MM the first day and then upgraded it might be worth it.

They take your picture at the turnstiles, so no need to have a PP take it (at least that's how they did it when I bought ours Oct 2014).

Yes, you CAN do it, in fact I just did it this weekend. You just need to use the magic morning before you upgrade to an AP. It's usually best to do it early in your trip for max benefit. It's best to use your park hopper for MM on your first day then go back to the ticket booth later that day to convert to the AP.
