Just got back an hour ago. We really had a fantastic time, and thought DVC did a great job. I will post more observations when I get settled in. To all SSR owners, that is some beautiful resort. We liked it so much we did an add on!

Chris -- Congrats on the add on! And so glad you saw the beauty in our home resort, SSR. I will admit -- it exceeded my expectations in some wonderful ways. And glad you liked MH! I will definitely attend the next one.

What did you all like so much about SSR?? I wasn't impresssed, and am trying to figure out why?? Maybe it was just the HEAt!!! I loved the location and the buildings. But I am concerned about the distance to the community hall and main pool. In the heat it is quite a hike. Also, they have no plans for any more restaur-ants....just the one little one by the store..... Help me!!!! Set me straight!!!! We are supposed to stay there for a week this summer, and I was actually thinking about changing to a different resort!!!!!

jweiss,
The heat definitely was a problem this trip! I was wilting after two hours in the park. I just responded to another thread about what I liked about the resort, but I'll try to recap here.
1. The quiet pool- I liked it more than the High Springs pool.
2. The architecture and decor of the resort impressed me when I saw it in person.
3. Artist Palette was nicely done. I would probably go here for lunch several times during a stay. I had a ham and cheddar pannini that was very good. Their homemade potato chips were delicious. The price on the food seemed reasonable to me. With DD so close I don't see the need for a full service restaurant. The proximity of DD and all those eateries was a plus to me.
4. Being that I no longer go to the parks for a full day, I enjoy just wandering around the resorts. SSR certainly requires quite a bit of walking, but I enjoyed it. The turf club seemed like a nice place to have a drink and play a game of billiards. I look forward to renting one of those surrey bikes.
5. My DW loved the spa. While she was being pampered for three hours, I wandered the resort and had a nice time.
6. As a golfer I'm going to love being that close to one of Disney's great courses.
I think the resort will have a much different feel when more of the buildings open up. If your concern is the distance to the main pool and common areas, maybe you should wait until the buildings directly across the street open up before staying here. I hope they use the cinema. It would be nice if they showed a nightly movie like the campfire program at FW.
I feel SSR will add a different type of trip to my DVC vacations. I plan on really utilizing what the resort has to offer such as tennis, golfing and the great nightlife at Pleasure Island and DD. I'm really looking forward to future stays here.::yes::

Thanks for your observations. I definately want to try SSR at some point in the future. If Disney keeps addings DVC resorts, I may have to become a full time vacationer!:teeth:
