OK, I'm torn and I need help. We will be at MGM on a day when they are open 9-7 with Fantasmic at 7:30. I currently have an ADR at 50s PT for 5:30. BUT, with the reviews I'm starting to rethink my choice.

I'm looking for recommendations are here are the rules:
1) I do not was to use 2 TSs, so no Brown Derby
2) Not really thrilled by having Italian food on a hot and humid day - I need protein not carbs, so not really wanted to go to MM.
3) It's 3 adults, so the H&V new character meal is totally out - I don't even know who those characters are!
4) No other parks as we won't have hoppers
5) I'm willing to go to a resort, but want to make sure we catch Fantasmic because that's our only day at that park. I'd need to make a 5pm ADR and make sure that it's fairly close.

I don't mean to be a princess, but I want to make sure we have a good time - both in the parks and at meal time.

With the rules you've laid out, I think 50's Prime Time cafe my be your best option. You really dont have much of a choice as far as TS meals in MGM. I've been to 50's PT cafe and its neat. The food was nothing to write home about, but the atmosphere is kinda interesting. Its really sort of a dinner show. You could look into the Sci Fi drive in, but its pretty much the same thing. But, I think the food at Sci Fi is actually worse. H&V is a good buffet, but if character dinning isnt your thing (its certainly not for me) then I wouldnt look into that. Personally, I would suggest Mama Melrose, but if Italian on a summer day isnt your thing, then you wont be interested in that. And honestly, going to a resort is out of the question, because chances are, you wont be able to eat and get back to MGM in time to get a decent seat for Fantasmic.

Having gone through all of that, looks like you should give 50's PTC a shot.

On our last visit to MGM we went to the 50s PTC and really enjoyed it. Having said that, to get the full experience you need to "play along". My DH made a white "I surrender" flag with a toothpick and stuck it in his green beans. It was a hoot watching our "cousin Jenny" - the server - point out the fact that "Skippy doesn't want to eat his green beans!" to the whole section we were sitting in. She sat down and made him take a bite. We have an ADR there for our August trip. We plan on going to Fantasmic and have a 5:15 pm ADR. The park has extra magic hours that night for us, so we won't run into the same time crunch as you will. Can you make the reservation any earlier?
