I haven't finished my ADRs yet for the third week of October (I know, I know), but I only have one or two left. We did not have a chance to visit MGM when we were last there in 2004, so I don't know anything first hand about the restaurants. What about 50's Prime Time Cafe? I need to hear anything good or bad before I make my ADRs. :thanks:

We ate at the Prime Time last fall and it was okay...nothing outstanding but good. The restaurant is really neat though and we asked for a table with the little kitchen and tv which I liked. The dad's super sundae was huge! It's probably one of the better choices at MGM...they are really lacking on restaurants there.

Both Primetime and Sci Fi have excellent atmospheres. You can get a bigger selection at Primetime, but they are both good.

Thanks to both of you. I've reviewed the menus from Prime Time and Sci-Fi and like it better at Prime Time. Soooo I guess I better call for ADRs.

We really like PT! My DM and I usually share the pot roast-my mom says it's one of the best she's every had. We think the fried chicken is just okay. OP may not agree. My DD6 really enjoyed the build-your-own sundae. Last time we were there Aunt Elaine was great! She took my DD princess: (then 5) over to another table to tell her knock knock joke to our "cousins" from Ohio. It was very cute. We've been 4xs now, I think with the last time being the best-thanks to Aunt Elaine :goodvibes and we finally got to sit at one of the tables with the t.v. etc. Very cool! :cool1: :cool1:

We've never actually eaten at Prime Time, but we definitely will on our next trip. We ate at the Hollywood & Vine last time and it was absolutely AWFUL! However, the two restaurants are connected, and share bathrooms and we caught a glimpse of PT. The theming is great, and I'm sure it would be so much fun to eat there.

We ate at Mama Melrose's before, and it was pretty good Italian. There aren't a lot of Italian options throughout WDW, so it was a refreshing change to eat there. It's not the best, but definitley far from the worst food as well.

We ate at Primetime last fall, and had a good time. The wait was long, but the atmosphere was so much fun we didn't mind too much. Next time we go I'm going to stay away from the green beans. I'm not a foodie. I like my green beans cooked. The desserts were very good. We don't have an ADR for this fall because we want to try other places, but we will go back.

We loved Prime Time. We are not going back there for our next trip, because we want to try Hollywood and Vine (despite the bad reviews). We both liked it, and would like to go back, but we are trying new restaurants on this trip (with the exceptions of a few favorites). So we'll see!

I would rather chew tin foil then ever go to Prime Time again. I find the schtick there to be incredibly annoying. I like Sci-Fi's atmosphere, the food os decent but pricey. Mama Melrose's is OK too. Its good for the Fantasmic package.

50's is the best restaurant at MGM in our opinions. Although if the FDP is really important to you, I'd do HBD and pay out of pocket for it. We always go in September so don't feel the need to do the FDP.

You should really see Sci-Fi if you've never been there, but I think you have the right idea about skipping the ADR. Swing in around 2:30 and see if you can get a table just for a milkshake, they are to DIE for and you'll get to experience the drive-in the old-fashioned way!

We also want to try restaurants that we haven't been to yet. We have one from each park so far. I am really torn about MGM but I think we're going to go with Prime Time. BTW, I like my green beans cooked too. :)

we are debating between the two also. We have young kids so not sure if they would get the whole 50's thing, how is it with young kids?

I wouldn't go to the Prime Time just for the act they put on. The food is simply things you'd get at an American BBQ if you ask me. Fried chicken, sandwiches, etc. We do not have any plans on going there in the future.

Mama Melrose's is one of our favorite restaurants though. The atmosphere is great..warm, relaxing, authentic, and fun. The food is wonderful as well. We visit this restaurant during every trip.

50's is fun with decent food, we always enjoyed the atmosphere and had a fun waiter. I found the fried chicken to be quite good. SCi-Fi is also very neat, I had a burger and onion rings and found both to my liking..

If you are going to do Fantasmic you should book reservations. We did and were able to get seats that were fine. HV was excellent. The Salmon and peel shrimp very good. The best was the cream corn casserol.
We would rate this very good and the people with me are very picky.
Prime time is always good to okay and the atmosphere is a lot of fun.
There is a back lot counter service that we liked too. Just got back last week and have already forgotten the name.
Have fun.

I heard they put Tin Foil Burgers on the menu for this year. Just make sure you finish your aluminum peas first...
