MGM - most difficult park to "divide" up - how do you tour it?

Because MGM doesnt have Lands, Sections, etc how do you tour it? how do you divide it up?
MK is easy - Fantasyland 1 day, Adventureland & Frontierland another
EpCot - FutureWorld and return for countries
AK - Africa & Asia, return for Dinoland
but how do you tour MGM? We're mostly interested in RnR and Star Tours which are on opposite ends

We generally do the Tower of Terror area as one section, the Great movie Ride as another, and Indiana Jones and back as the third. So we start at TofT, do the roller coaster, and try to see the first Beauty and the Beast if it's early enough, as well as getting a breakfast/snack at the food stands along the street. We shop our way back up to the center. Then we do Great Movie Ride, Mermaid, One Man's Dream and the animation tour. After lunch, we start working towards the back of the park - Indiana Jones, Muppets, Motor stunt show, backstage tour. Obviously, we use FastPass when needed and stop for PS's for lunch and dinner. We love MGM!!!

The show schedules run our touring day at MGM. We start by heading to RnR/TOT getting FP for one and waiting stand by for the other. Then we can usually use our FP and get another one. Then we start seeing the shows/attractions according to their times, filling in the non timed attractions as we go. I don't think we have ever toured MGM in the same order, other than hitting RnR and TOT first.

I'm with Bobcat on this one. The show schedules plan our day. Then we just go on whatever we can fit in. Sometimes we don't have time for the Great Movie Ride if the line is too long.

This is a tough park to tour if you want to see allot of the shows such as Ariel, Beauty and the Beast, Indiana Jones and soon the motor stunt show.

I'm taking my spry 80 yr old Mom and 12 yr old son next January and this park was my biggest concern. I think we'll spend a morning there to hit TOT and RNRR, GMR, Beauty & the Beast, and Muppets. Then we'll go back again another day and do Star Tours, indiana jones, Little Mermaid, the new stunt show, millionaire and backlot tour. It's hard enough to see everything but trying to figure in my mom's wants and then my son's , the only way I could do it without stressing anyone out was to split it into 2 half or a bit more days. Let's just hope that most everything is open and not under rehab as this is my mom's first trip to MGM.

MGM is smaller and it doesn't really seem to take that long to walk from RNR to Star Tours actually. RNR, TOT are going to have the longest lines, so we usually hit those (or get FP's for them) first, then head over to the 'other' side where the shows and Star Tours are.

I found this park to be tough to tour as well. I used the UG plan, and things went pretty well, but with the way the shows were timed we never did get to see Who wants to be a millionaire. Oh well. Guess that gives me an excuse to go back, right??

We get fast passes for ToT or RnR, and then the show schedules determine the rest of our tour. On our last visit, I went to get a FP for the new Stunt Show while DH and kids waited in line to see Sully, then we went to the B & B show, then to the Stunt Show. There was a lot of walking involved as the Stunt Show is in the opposite corner as the B & B show. We tend to spend one morning/early afternoon at MGM, and then on another day we go in the evening.

The shows are the most maddening part about a good MGM touring plan, especially Beauty and the Beast. During slower times of the year, I think they only have afternoon showings. But in the afternoon, you're usually in the opposite end of the park! Arrrgh.... And depending on the exact time of Playhouse Disney and the crowds at Mermaid, you can either just make or just miss Playhouse. Double arrrgggh.

MGM isn't as big as the other parks, so we just hop, skip and jump to whatever attraction sounds good at the time.....never felt compelled to adopt a formal touring plan.
And since we like to walk, it's no big deal.

When we do MGM the two big MUST SEE's are Millionaire (missed it last time) and Beauty and the Beast (niece's FAVORITE thing) -- but we won't be getting to MGM until about 1pm. Do you think it'll be difficult to get a Fast Pass then for Millionaire? How early do you think we'll have to get to Beauty and the Beast to get a good seat for a late afternoon show?

I'm thinking we'll head straight to Millionaire to get an FP, then shop our way over to Beauty and the Beast.

We have found that we have to do continuous attractions on one day, and then strictly shows on another day for the Studios.

It is possible to hustle your way through the morning (Extra Magic Hours) on the bigger continuous running attractions, and see a few select shows in the afternoon, but you really have to hustle.

However, come to think of it, a lot of the shows have lost their appeal for us. Beauty and the Beast has never been one of our favorites, Hunchback is gone, we only see Little Mermaid when we bring newbies along, We will probably never see Bear as our "baby" is 17, Indiana Jones is a once every couple of trips thing, the animation tour lost it's appeal when the "animators" left and Backlot Tour is severely reduced now, but we will catch it about every other trip. We do try to catch a couple of Millionnaire seatings per trip. We havn't seen the stunt car show yet, so maybe that will become a must see

Our must sees for the Studios are RnRC, ToT, Great Movie Ride, Millionaire, Muppets, Fantasmic, and One Man's Dream. Star Tours is a possibility if the line is short.

We have also discovered that we "Love" the Streetmosphere shows that come up.
