I'm trying to decide how much time to allot for a visit to MGM. We have a 4 1/2 year old and a 20 month old. My son is very into star wars things despite having never seen the movie and buzz and woody things. Unfortunately no Fantasmic for us since it starts so late in the day.

Thanks!

my dd loved MGM when we went last year (she was almost 3) She loved all the rides but her favorites were Playhouse Disney, the Little Mermaid, the great Movie Ride and seeing the characters, like Jojo circus, Monsters inc and toy story..

For us, we can do MGM in 1/2 day. We don't find that there is alot geared to the younger ones. It's definately not one of our favorite parks. My dd's are 6 and 3. We usually do all the shows (Little mermaid, playhouse disney, etc). There isn't any rides for them, except for Muppet Ride. HTH.

My kids are a little older, but the first year we went to WDW with the kids DD had just turned 4, she really did not like MGM, her favourite park is the Magic Kingdom......she LOVES splash mountain. But she did like the Little Mermaid, Honey I shrunk the kids play area. She loved to meet all the characters as well. She and I only spent a few hours at MGM, and then returned to the resort to play in the pool.

We love MGM! We have been taking our kids since they were 8/9 months old. Here are some things that are great for preschoolers:

The Stars and Motor Cars parade! This is our favorite parade. They have characters you can't see in other parades like the Playhouse Disney characters, Star Wars characters, Lightening McQueen and Tow Mater, and so much more!!

Playhouse Disney. My kids loved this. They get to dance and sing and see Jo Jo and others.

Little Mermaid. This is also my favorite but both my kids always fell asleep in this!! After so many trips last year was the first time in 9 years DD got to see it because she finally didn't fall asleep!!LOL Not because it is boring, but it is so cool, comfy seats, and dark!

Muppets. This one is alot of fun for all of us!!

Beauty and the Beast Live. It is like a Broadway show!! Love it and so do the kids!

HISTK playground. We did this for the first time in Nov and I couldn't get the kids to leave!! They had a ball and it was great to let them run and let loose.

The characters! The kids love meeting them and getting autographs. There are so many at MGM.

And for DH and I we love all the shops! We could spend hours just browsing all of them!LOL

Have a great time!!

My DD5 loves MGM and always has. She enjoys all the shows (Playhouse Disney, Little Mermaid, Beauty&the Beast, Muppets, LMA and Indiana Jones). The Great Movie Ride is a HUGE fav of hers although I have no idea why LOL! But she asks to go on it more than once. She also adores Fantasmic although if its really late I can see why you'd want to skip it. The last time we went it was at 7:00 and that was perfect. She really enjoys eating at SciFi. The parade at MGM is her fav. Also, she enjoys getting character autographs and there are some terrific character opportunities at MGM you don't get elsewhere. We always spend alot of time here. :confused3

As others have said and I agree MGM is magical for kids. I would not trade watching my daughter in the little mermaid show when the bubbles came down for anything!! priceless!

My ds loves Star Tours and Indiana Jones

Just to mention a few......

I think MGM also has the best among the best character dining for preschoolers. The Playhouse Disney characters are at Hollywood and Vine (I believe). It is also the only place on Disney property where you can get a photo with Mickey in his Sorceror (excuse the spelling) hat. And the best part..... there is almost never a line there. We love MGM.

Have a great time.

We went with my 3yo niece in December, and while she was excited to see the little einsteins, not much else excited her. Apparently she had a fit in playhouse disney (we skipped it) because she didn't want to sit on the floor (or something). She just wanted to ride MK rides...

Our DD (2 1/2) LOVES Disney MGM. We do the shows, play in the HISTK play area, see the Muppets, we love the Stars and Motor Cars Parade. We did the Play and Dine lunch at H&V, DD had a BLAST (she didn't eat much but she had a great time.)

I think our DD's least favorite park is EPCOT but really she loves them all. She'll tell you her favorite is Animal Kingdom but my uncle works there and he spoils her rotten, so that clouds her judgement a little.

When my DD was younger (she's 7 now) she liked the Great Movie Ride except it was a little loud for hear. My niece covered her ears during the loud parts (gun shots). Of course, she also loves (and loved) the B & B show. She likes the tram ride, though it bores me. Also, she loves the Ariel Show-I think it's cute too! The muppet show is good too though we actually haven't seen it at MGM, only at DCA in California. IMHO, MGM for kids is mostly about the shows, not so much about the rides.

There's not alot there for her (she doesn't like ToT, and is too short for R'nR, so we typically don't spend alot of time there.)

Last Sept. we actually only went to MGM to go to Brown Derby for dinner. :confused3 We like MGM, but with going to both water parks, MNSSHP at MK, AK, and her favorite-Epcot, we just ran out of time-amazing since we were there for almost 10 full days. (we had a few non-park days though)

We tend to do only a half-day at MGM. My kids are 5 and 2, and they'd rather be at MK or Epcot.

Ditto here. MGm is our least favorite, both adults and kids. Last trip was last year and kids were 6,6 and 5. We usually do a half a day at MGM. My kids have outgrown Playhouse Disney:confused3 . Big favorites are Star Tours and The Little Mermaid. Rock N Roller Coaster and Tower of Terror for the grown upas and we are pretty much done.
