MGM Fastpass question

Ok, I understand how FPs work on the rides, but how do they work with the scheduled shows? For example in MGM, you can get a FP for Lights, Motor, Action and Indiana Jones. If I get a FP for Indiana Jones does the FP just let me know which show time I have gotten into? Is the FP just a guarantee that you will get into a certain show time? Also, if I go to Indiana Jones to get a FP as soon as the park opens does that mean I am going to get into the 1st show? Last question - if we only do one - LMA or IJ - which one is better? Sorry for all the questions and thanks!!!

The fast pass for the shows will tell you when to return for your particular show. The fast pass for lights, motors... is different from all others, you can get one of them and then get another for a different ride right away. When we were there, we did not even get the fast pass from the machine. CM's were standing in front, asked you how many you needed and handed them to you. When you return you go to a different area than the standby people, and they let you into the seating area first. So, you get to sit in the middle, and in the shade, if that is important. We did not do Indiana Jones, so I am not sure how it works, but I assume that if you get a fast pass there first thing in the morning it will be for the first show.
