MF not paid, points not banked, August UY, buying resale...options?

Hey there,

Here's the deal:

201 points from 2010 which weren't banked because the annual dues weren't paid. The points expire on July 31, 2011 due to the contract being an August UY. I'm purchasing this contract resale and it just went to Disney for ROFR today.

Let's assume (a.k.a. beg, hope, pray) that the points are in my name and in my account before the points expire...is there anything at all that I can do to get these points banked?

It'd be great if we could but we got a smokin' good deal on the contract that I'm not too concerned...it'd just be an amazing bonus.

I'm assuming that the MFs will be paid for the 2010 points when you close. If that's true, it is possible that MS will grant you as the new owner a one time grace period to bank these points. If you have already used this one time banking extension then you'll be out of luck. Once you close you need to ask MS nicely if there is anyway to bank these points since the prior owner didn't do it. And hopefully the CM will mention the one time banking. If your closing is after the points expire though nothing can be done to save the points.

That's kind of what I was thinking as well. I'm pretty sure that I'm out of luck but it's worth a try. I'm betting that I'd have better luck if I bought directly from Disney but if that was the case then I wouldn't be in this situation. Who knows...hopefully everything will close quickly and then I'll have a shot at it.

If you can't bank the points, make a reservation as soon as you get the points and try and rent the reservation, or list the points and try and rent them.

When I bought my first contract, an august UY also, according to the contract description, there was 2010 points coming on august. no banked points...

When I got access to my account the fisrt time, on around july 25, there was 300 points sitting in 2009 : 150 2008 banked points and 150 2009 points, that had not been banked, and all those 300 points were expiring in 6 days !!!

I called MS, they made an exception and banked my 2009 points, and I bought a RCI certificate with the 2008 points.....

I read more than one time, on this forum, that Disney often make that 'Once in a lifetime' exception and accept to bank points when the deadline is already passed, specially for new sale. I whish you good luck !!!!!

I've heard of the "Once in a Lifetime" situations too and I just hope that it applies to the member and not the actual contract.

Either way we're still stoked to be on our way to being DVC members...if we get through Disney's ROFR...should be alright on that front though.
