Mexican Riviera Cruise April 3, 2011

Well, since this thread is 21 pages long, and I normally have limited patience, which means I more than likely will not read all 21 pages to find my answer, I thought I would just pose a question.

On the 04/03/11 cruise, is there a general "Dis Meet" scheduled or is it just the FE that this thread is about? Being as how we have no children, the FE is not something that I would participate in, so was wondering if there's a general "meet".

Thanks.

Miss No Patience :rolleyes1

HELLO!!!

Yes we will be having a "meet and greet" but I am not sure where the best place would be. If someone can suggest a place and time that would be great!!!

I called DCL for some odds and ends and had them confirm our schedule. So as a DCL n00b I'd like to share that with you:

Sunday, 3/3: Long Beach, Embark (boarding from 1:00 to 3:00) Cruise Casual

Monday 3/4: Day at Sea. Formal

Tuesday, 3/5: Cabo San Lucas Cruise Casual (in port 11:15 to 5 pm)

Wednesday, 3/6: Puerto Valllarta Cruise Casual (in port 7:30 am to 7:00 pm)

Thursday, 3/7: Day at Sea. Pirate Night (was told only 2 weeks in April have this schedule = pirate night is day at sea.)

Friday, 3/8: Cabo San Lucas Semi Formal (in port 7:15 am to 1:30 pm)

Saturday, 3/9: Day at Sea Cruise Casual

Sunday, 3/10: Debark 9:30 to 11:00

Plan accordingly, fellow DIS'ers!! (disclaimer: hoping I took down all the info correctly!

Oh I am sooo bum. I made our Palo night on Thursday (Pirate Night). What do you think my chances are to change?

From experience typically the first or second evening seems to work best and the Promenade Lounge is usually a good venue.

Hello Heyriddle I sent you a PM.

Diane

I tried to PM back, but the boards won't let me. Thanks to all who are including us. We stayed up until 1am last night making our FE. It is coming along great. We have been enjoying assembling gifts as well.

If you booked with a TA, I'd have them beg borrow and steal :goodvibes Or get on the horn with DCL direct and beg borrow and steal :worship:

Then again...what exactly goes on in Palo on Pirate night? Maybe it is not such a bad thing after all :confused3 perhaps you will have 4 waiters to your table at your beck and call (and that's what I would consider more of a good thing). However I would defer to the experienced DCL cruisers on this...as this is not only our first Disney cruise, we are not even going to Palo at all :upsidedow so I'm no help at all in that respect pirate:

I had visions of doing some sort of all family Karaoke thing for the meet and greet ;)...but I need to defer to the DCL seasoned veterans on what works best. I daresay it definitely needs to happen within the first two nights (latest 3rd night?). I would think too much going on on Formal night, so rule that one out? Is is even worth noting people's seating times on the spreadsheet if we wanted to try a before or after dinner type of meet?

What time is your Palo reservation? Remember that there are two dinner sittings in the dining rooms so the Pirate "party" doesn't start until after they start to clear out the second seating. The only thing that you would miss, unless you want to eat all over again is the buffet.

However if you have a very late seating, and the Pirate Party is your higher priority, when you get on the ship, you can go to Wavebands and try and try to change your Palo reservation, but I would go there as soon as possible to get a good place in the queue

They don't completely book up Palo and hold back just so they can take care of last minute people, plus there will be lots of other people trying to shuffle their reservations.

Hi all! I'm brand new to this forum and booked this cruise! Cannot wait to have fun in the sun in less than a month!

Oh I am glad to hear that the Palo sometime has dinner reservations that change. By the time I figured it out it was booked for dinner and I took brunch. works fine if we don't get in... but nice to know we might still get a chance.

also we took the late dinner for the same reason, My granddaughter is so picky.. we figure she is not going to eat much anyway and so we might as well enjoy dinner.. thought the shows earlier would be less crowded.

One question... My friend that has done Disney cruises before said there are a lot of things to sign up your kids for.. tea parties with characters etc. Do you do that on a daily basis when they are announced or when you get on the ship on that first day.

thanks so much for all the info, this has been wonderful to read all the info from you seasoned cruisers. Totally helpful:thumbsup2

I'll defer to the people with kids. I've only traveled with children once.

I think that all of the activities, aside from the character breakfast are taken care of at the kids clubs. There will also be activities in the daily navigators (ship board newsletter delivered to your room) which will also list the daily character line up and schedule.

I noticed that your dates are for March. I assume that is just a typo?

From other groups of DIS'ers I've cruised with, we usually have a meet and greet at 3pm on departure day in the Promenade Lounge. It has always worked out pretty well. And at that time , other times can be settled easily with everyone else.
(Just my 2 cents)

TinyG and family has late seating. I would love to know our dining rotation.

I cannot believe we're already in March.... so close, so close! :goodvibes

We've finished our FE gifts(whew!), still don't have a holder and I don't know if I'm crafty enough to sew one. I may have the classiest ducktaped paper pocket FE ever! :rotfl:

Went shopping this weekend with the kids for new summer clothes. So it's seeming more real... can't wait!!!
