Mexican Riviera Cruise 03/27/2011

Thank you everyone for your warm welcome and very helpful links. I think we are in good shape now!

I was watching Toy Story on the Disney Channel with my DD this evening, and I told her that there is a Toy Story show on the ship. TS is her favorite movie, and Rex is her favorite character. She got so excited to hear that there is a show that is all TS on the Wonder! Sounds like that will be one of the highlights of the trip.

Only 30 work days left until departure (that brings a smile to my face:banana:)

Cheers,
Claudia

Lori:

We haven't been on in a while due to some really busy schedules lately. We continue to be in for the FE and will pop in at the meet & greet.

On the FE, we have some concern that we have both enough stuff and the right stuff for folks that are participating. I know we can sort the participants on the web site (great job on whomever did that; I can't remember at the moment), but there doesn't seem to be a way to print it. Also, I saw someone had rolled up the FE results to look something like this:

2 6 yr old girls
5 7 yr old boys, etc.

I can't find it now and it's probably out of date anyhow. In any event, something like that would be really helpful to us so that we are sure we've got the right stuff for everyone. (Wouldn't want a 16 yr old boy to get a Tinkerbell item ...).

If there's anyway of doing that throught the Google site, we'd very much appreciate knowing how to do it.

Hi, and great to hear from you!!

I understand exactly how you feel about the list.... just when I think I have it right, I missed someone. So I created some lists that have been added to our special website: https://sites.google.com/site/disneymexicanrivieracruise/dis-board-list

Go to the bottom of the page and there are attachments which can be viewed or downloaded. Hope it helps!!

Lori

Hello Umich90!Welcome! My name is Becky, I am doing the FE list, and Penguinaddict (Lori) & DisneyHonu (Lawrence) are helping me put new names on the list. (Computer savy I am not..) Thanks for posting your info, it will get on our FE list, and your family friends who will be accompanying you, on our meet list.
It is your choice if you would like to give one gift to each whole cabin, or something for each person in each cabin. I believe there are as of now, 14 families in the FE, so that means that there will be 2 families a day giving gifts to each cabin/or cabin member, with two days having three! If more families join, I will adjust accordingly, maybe into AM & PM?

I believe this is the most updated list of Adults/children (children listed by age):

12 MEN
17 WOMEN

BOYS: GIRLS:
16 13
14 12
11 12
10 8
8 8
6 8
6 6
2 5
2 4
2 4

Of course, if more join, that will change! Did I forget any Lori/Lawrence? Let me know. :)
I'll have my clipboard with FE lists for everyone, at the meet. I'll bring a sharpie to add in room #'s that will be added there, and your "day to deliver", and break up the "map" of everyone's rooms by deck.
Can't wait to meet everyone! :woohoo:

UGH... I just saw how my above post came up. Sorry, not computer savy! But look at the kids list. The boys are the first # straight down, all the girls are the next # straight down. Sorry guys!:worship:

Hi Everyone,

Just an update on our group, as I know the details as of today.

87 people! Yahoo!! :woohoo:

23 families (counting the DISBoard user name only) :cool1:

44 people in the FE Exchange (12 families); 26 adults; 18 kids :cheer2:

If anyone is interested in the lists, I've created documents which can be viewed or downloaded. They are at the very bottom of the DISBoard List on this site page: https://sites.google.com/site/disneymexicanrivieracruise/dis-board-list

I will keep the list updated on the site, but the documents might be updated only every few days.

Again, let us know of any allergies or corrections, and pass along names as soon as possible so name tags can be printed! Thanks!!

Hi everyone!

I know that DISBoards doesn't allow people to send Private Messages (PMs) unless you've posted on the boards 10 times.

I think that you can send me an email (without having 10 post under your belt) by clicking on the link. If it doesn't work, please let me know.

So my "page" is here: http://www.disboards.com/member.php?u=248775

Click on "contact info" tab then choose your choice of method - visitor message, private message or email message.

Still inviting everyone to Facebook: facebook.com/therealpenguinaddict (I have a "private group" set up for our cruise families but we have to "friend" each other before you can be added. So, make the request, and away we go!

Thanks!! Lori

Hi, we're still missing some names from our group. Maybe you won't make it to the meet, but just in case, please let us know the names of people in your group so we can have name tags ready.

Here's what we're missing:

CruisinEars (info on the entire group - names, ages, adults/kids, FE??)
lilbug13 (names for each person in the group)
TheTakaTaco4 (names for each person in the group)
Whiskers (names for the kids)

Send me a private message, or email using the info shown in the previous post.

Thanks everyone!! Lori

It was mentioned about the food allergies - and I wanted to remind everyone not to bring anything homemade or precooked (for as much as I would love one of your cookies!)

Homemade, pre-cooked or other perishable items plus any open snack containers cannot be brought on board. Limitations on permitted food items are directly related to concerns for food safety and contamination prevention.

Hi all!:yay:

Question-
Does anyone have good suggestions for hotels in the area (maybe long beach):confused3?
I'm hoping to find something with food for breakfast and dinner that is good, and I don't mind driving a little bit. I was looking into the crown plaza for the park and sail, but I'm not sure if I want to wait in line for the shuttle (first one comes at 1030) and the restaurant only so/so says the reviews. Any suggestions?

Thanks all!
Happy Valentines day!

Marriott at the Long Beach Airport is nice and there are a lot of food choices in the area...I suggest George's Greek Cafe at the Lakewood Mall....Yummy.....if you stay in Long Beach, be sure to send us a PM. We live in Long Beach.

The Residence Inn by Marriott close to the airport is nice and they have a free breakfast buffet.

Another good hotel is the Holiday Inn by the Long beach airport and the have a great restaurant on their top floor.

Good reminder, we only ask, because we have some prepackaged candy and don't want to make anyone sick, for example by giving someone with a peanut allergy something that was processed in the same factory as peanuts.

Good reminders Omasgirls! Yes, homemade/fresh/unpackaged food isn't allowed. That would most likely spread a motherload of germs ship wide with everyone bringing on homemade goodies & dishes of meats/breads, etc! But prepackaged candy/snacks, waters/sodas/alcohol is permitted. Sealed = safe!
Let everyone know of any food or drink allergies/intolerances/non-consumed. As we stated, our 6yr old is allergic to apples. Always has been since a baby. It gives him a rash on his face, and if enough eaten, the rash spreads to the rest of him. not pretty or the making of a happy, comfy child, it's yucky. But he can smell apples till the cows come home, & it doesn't bother him. Only when consumed. BTW, I AM allergic to avacadoes! But,.. don't think it was much worth a mention for the FE, no guacamole FEers!! :rotfl2:

Hi! We've decided to park at the port so booked about 15 mins away. We'll be staying at the Clarion in Carson - advanced purchase prices ends up around $84.00/night for 4. We're using our hotel points so free for us!

cmwade77 thanks for the Greek food tip - yummy!!! That may be exactly we're you'll find us Saturday for dinner.

How is the Westin? How close and convenient is it to the port and to food? I'm going to be driving so... There's some great deals on it, and I get airline miles:cool1:

We are staying at the westin, we got a deal through hot-wire.com for 72.00.

I haven't booked through Hotwire, I'm looking and do you not have a choice, you just pick the star rating?:confused3 What was the Westin categorized as 3.5 or 4? They have a 3.5 listed as $82 would that be worth the gamble? Any tips would be great!
