Hi all! So we are making our first trip back to DL in almost 10 years! We used to live in Arizona and visited quite often, but now living in Michigan WDW has been our go to park. Anyways while there is decent Mexican food up here, its just not like southwest. We will have a car so any advice on some Mexican restaurants nearby would greatly be appreciated.

TIA

Here is a link to a Yelp search for Mexican restaurants in/near Anaheim: http://www.yelp.com/searchfind_loc=..._desc=mexican+restaurant&find_loc=anaheim,+CA. This list will give you some idea of what is available so you can see what looks good to you (since personal tastes can vary so widely! I know we find the Mexican food in AZ to be different from what we're used to in L.A.). Are you looking for anything specific (e.g. region, dish, style, authenticity, atmosphere, etc.)? Let us know what you want, and the recommendations will come rolling in!

There are a few places that range from sit down to fast food style that are really good nearby, as the PP said, it really depends on what you like and what region you want food from.

There's Tortilla Jo's in DTD of course. When we go there we order the grilled chicken nachos and that enough for DW and me to split. A little pricey for regular entrees on the menu but we do venture there sometimes. Guacamole prepared at the table is very good (costs extra).

DW's long-time favorite place is Chili Pepper in Orange, on Main St just south of Chapman Ave. Well run place, lots of atmosphere, and decent prices. But it's a few miles from DL.

Los Sanchez is a popular counter service place in Garden Grove. Head south from DLR on Disneyland Drive - it changes name to West Street. Continue until the street ends at Garden Grove Blvd. Turn right and Los Sanchez is immediately on your left. Busy place - used to be at Harbor and Chapman until the city of GG decided they wanted to turn that area into hotels so they could make some tax $$$. Los Sanchez hasn't lost a beat in their new digs.

When I visit DtD, and occasionally the parks as well, I bring in mi madre's made fresh that morning from her casa, burritos, taquitos, and sopas. On special occasions, like Christmas for example, or when a nun or priest has become canonized, mi mama will make her specialty sweet tamales.
I sell this food at awesome prices. If you look for me, I will be the person who's bag is brimming with Mexican food. It's a large red bag, that has a Mickey Mouse head on it. Not a real one of course. :faint: it's just a facsimile. :) Ok....so anyway, yes please do look for me. I normally have a long line before me. I can take orders to, just give me 48 hours notice first, because mi madre doesn't like being rushed around. Plus she has other cooking to do too. But that's another story man.
Just to let you know though, sometimes I have to run a bit while making my transactions, because the mouse doesn't like that I don't give him a cut of my earnings, as a result, security gets after me. :faint:
.................

Lol......

No.......really... ? WT? :p

Thank you all for the suggestions so far! I am really looking forward to being back in California!

Are you looking for anything specific (e.g. region, dish, style, authenticity, atmosphere, etc.)?

Nothing really specific we are looking for, I grew up with basically Sonoran style Mexican food, but my wife is from Sinaloa so any place with food from that region would make her very happy (happy wife, happy life).

I do realize everybody's taste are different, but was hoping for a few suggestions and then relying on Yelp or something similar to narrow down our choices.

Again thanks for any suggestions.

Not Sonoran or Sinaloan, but our favorite is Los Chilangos on Lincoln (near Euclid, I think, near the Target) for DF style Mexican food. Very casual, good prices, great service.

I usually go to Tortilla Joe, but recently tried Alerto's on Harbor Blvd and really liked it. I have no idea if it's Sonoran or Sinaloan or what. It's super cheap too.

Another vote for Los Sanchez. It's our "must do" in Anaheim. The Pazole is amazing, just like Grandma used to make! Their prices are very reasonable.
