I think that we are going to get a hotel for the night before our early A.M. flight out of DTW. I was looking at the Days Inn, Comfort Inn, and Howard Johnsons. I don't expect much out of the hotel as fare as ammendies but I want a CLEAN place. Any experience, advice or comments would be greatly appericated. Thank you, I'm very afraid of booking a dive!!!!

Those hotels off McCoy Road are usually the older hotels. Howard Johnson is now a Clarion. Days Inn has been there many years. Both are dives. The Comfort Inn may be the Holiday Inn now. If it is on Conway Rd. It is okay.

The hotels at the north end of the airport are the newer ones. They include Hilton Garden, Marriot Courtyard, Fairfield Inn, Embassy and many more. You can go to the Orlando International Airport (official web site) and they have most of those hotels listed.

Not to sure of the roads by dtw but I think you may have missunderstood me I want hotels around the detroit airport not orlando for we are flying out of DTW very early. Please correct me if I am wrong and these are by DTW. Either way thank you.

Metro Airport is in Romulus and the hotels are off Merriman and Middlebelt Rd exits. I have stayed at the Marriotts (Courtyard and Fairfield) and they were clean. I stayed at a couple others that I would not recommend, I can see them but can't remember the names (sorry).

If you are parking at the airport the remote (covered) airport lots (blue, green and yellow) are $7/day). The private offsite lots (uncovered) are $8-9/day.

Have a safe trip.

Depending on what airline your flying (Really a good hotel for Northwest, Continental or Delta) the Westin sometimes has drop dead cheap rates ($89 per night) and has a private security entrance right into the terminal. If your looking for something "offsite" I suggest the Courtyard Marriott, Marriott DTW or Hampton Inn DTW, all of which are fairly priced, have some nice ammenities and are spotless. You get what you pay for, and this is exactly true with DTW hotels because some are NASTY!!

Wow that is cheap does that by chance include parking? We were looking at the comfort inn and days inn they were both $79 including a week of parking.
Would the westin work for us we are flying Spirit.
Sorry for all the questions about 1 year ago we moved 1 more hour farther away from dtw before I never had to deal w/ all this it was about a 25 min trip to DTW. No big deal. But that has all changed Thank you.

Ok, the parking at the Westin is NOT included in that rate (look for another $10 per day or so for that) so the Westin would start to get pricey. Also, if you are flying Spirit, there really is no advantage to using the Westin, as you would still need to take a shuttle to the terminal. I would suggest using LaQuinta Detroit Airport. They have a park and fly deal with Quik Park on Merriman, that gives you a week of parking and a night at the hotel for around $89. You have to call the hotel directly to get this rate, here is their phone number. 734-641-9006 and ask for a park and fly quote....

We use Quik Park a lot and love it. I notice that many, many pilots and flight attendants stay at this hotel....

I am looking into the same thing. Anyone else have any suggestions?

Thanks! :thumbsup2

Well like I said, The Westin is ideal if you are flying Northwest, Delta or Continental. For all other airlines I suggest LaQuinta for a good budget hotel, Courtyard Marriott/Hilton Garden Inn as a moderate priced hotel and Marriott/Hilton as a luxury class hotel....

I would agree with staying at the Marriotts. I think we paid $89. I stayed in an old Ramada in and was afraid to take my shoes off it was sooo nasty. The parking at the hotel was not included. We have always parked at Park -N- Jet or Quik park. Very convenient. They pick you up at your car and drop you off at your terminal. Call them when you return and they pick you right up at the curb. Good luck.
