anyone with any experience with this drug?

I took it about 10 years ago for arthrities. It did work very well. Because of the low dose you take, it's really not supposed to affect your immune system like it does when it's used as a chemo agent. However, I was working in Home Heath at the time and it seemed like I caught everything that was going around.

My dad has taken it for several years for severe psoriasis. (sp) It's the only thing that works. he has to get his liver tested sometimes to make sure there is no damage from the drug. (side effect). So far all is well. Hopefully he will never have to be taken off the drug. He looks horrible without it.

Thanks all. I've got some excema we're trying to get under control.

I've been on it for 6 years now and it's been great for me. have very little side effects. I take 5 pills on Saturday night. I chose ths night because DH was home all day Sunday to help with the kids if I felt really tired. I also chose nighttime because I could sleep thought the queasy stomach, which I do. It takes your body some time to adjust but it's not so bad. I teach pre-k and I do a lot of handwashing but I don't get many colds or anything. Make sure you go for your bloodwork every 6 weeks! Good luck with it.

My 17 yr old DD has been on it for two years, and gets tested every 3 months.

I've been on it for a few years for psoriatic arthritis. I didn't know it could help eczema. The only trouble I had was when I went up to 7 pills per week...BAD headaches. But if I take 4 or 5 I am ok.

Winnie - did you get your headaches the day you took the pills or later in the week?

I take 6 pills once a week and it's helped my arthritis immensely but I have been getting more headaches.

My son takes this as part of his leukemia treatment. Because he takes it in large doses, it lowers his immune system. We're still in the stage of trying to figure the right dose for him. He has bloodwork every 4 weeks to check his counts.

Figment, I 'd get them all week, no specific day. Felt like a sledgehammer at the back of my head.

I had taken it a few years ago when I had a cervical pregnancy. It is also used for an ectopic pregnancy. I had one dose a week for 6 weeks and after I had the dose, I felt extremely sick for a few days and had a strong metal taste in my mouth. My hair thinned a little too. I felt weak when I was on it too.

Do any of you take folic acid too?

Also, for the first few months I would feel VERY sleepy after taking it and have heard many people say this. For me though, this doesn't happen anymore.

My DH takes it with Humira for his rheumatoid arthritis. He's been feeling great since starting treatment, with only minor side effects when he started. But now he has no side effects and he's feeling MUCH better.

I take folic acid with it. Since I started the folic acid I don't get mouth sores. Works great!
