We are trying something new from the folks at Boardtracker. If you start a new thread you will see an option to "specify tags".
If you look at search you will see an option to "search tags"
This will help pull out the main topic of a thread and make it easy to fine. We are also going to be doing some other stuff with this like "Tag Clouds". What is a tag cloud? Stay tuned!
Please note this is only working in the orlando blue style right now but we will expand it

Is there any way to get Boardtracker's "search by username" to search the replies to posts? It seems to search only the threads started by that user and not their replies. I can usually remember who provided a great response to a question but I never remember who started the original thread in which the reply was made.

I know the old search software was a problem for some folks, but I always provided very specific criteria (username, timeframe, unique keywords) and generally found the post I was looking for very quickly. With the new search software, I try constructing the search criteria 6 or 7 times (trying different keywords) before giving up entirely and seeing if I can find it using Google. Supplying the username (and searching the specific forum) was usually the key to an efficient search but now that option is no longer available.
