Message Board community getting more open minded?

There is a thread on the theme parks board asking about gay days, and it is actually very positive. I remember threads like that getting nasty very quickly in the not so recent past. Do you think people are REALLY becoming more open minded, or are there other factors going on? Are the mods deleting negative posts? Have the people who say negative things gotten blasted too many times, so they keep quiet? Are gay days getting tamer, so less people complain? Am I being to cynical? Are people REALLY changing their opinions?

I think more people have been at that time of year, and are now posting instead of just going off of heresy.

Yes, people are becoming more accepting. There will always be those against us but we have more people on our side every day. Heck, you have millions of people singing "I Was Born This Way" (the fastest selling single ever) it's got to be sinking into the minds of those who don't like gays or are unsure.

I was visiting my fam down in Kentucky a few weekends ago. My 10 year old niece got upset because, for some reason, "Born This Way" wasn't on her iPod anymore. I think her Dad synced it to the wrong account. I was thrilled, and I am not even a big fan of the track. Gaga reached such a wide audience with the song. I thought my niece was a country music girl!

There were people who didn't like Gay Days? Have they ever BEEN at Gay Days? I honeymooned in DL and discovered that we had booked for Gay Days without knowing it. It was awesome! The atmosphere was totally positive and happy (even for Disney) and being surrounded by lots of couple was a nice romantic touch.

One of the best times of year to go, IMO.

I just read the other thread where someone posted about the "barely even friends..then some body bends..." shirt and I practically wet myself laughing.... I think there might be a market for Gay Disney t-shirts.....

Yup... I haven't read the thread since yearly yesterday morning but I've been very pleased with the answers on there -- the nastiness isn't prevalent like I have seen in other threads.

I have not seen the thread referred to here, but the perception of gays has indeed changed.

It used to be that only the most extreme gays were vocal very much, and so I don't fault any gays for not wanting to be associated with that scene if they had careers to protect, child custody that they did not want to lose, etc. Let's face it gays can be jerks as well as any heterosexual. As more and more very responsible citizens are saying "Yeah, I am gay too" heterosexuals who say "Oh, they are all alike" are exposed as jerks.

And someone saying that it wasn't worth arguing over. ?? But they'll fight to the death their decision to not let anyone cut them in line, oh yeah, don't you DARE cut in line...but speaking up against hateful speech, no no, we must not argue about that. rolleyes.
