Merry Eats at DL/DCA this Year?

It was fun reading about the different proposals (or sweet "I love yous" from hubby!) I hope the weather holds out! Just yesterday it said "abundant sunshine" for the 20th! Well, I guess that means more yummy treats to try indoors! :)

Accuweather usually tends to be more accuate than the other weather sources, but it is frustrating me! Just yesterday morning, it said Rain on December 21, and some rain late on the 20th. Now, today, there is no rain mentioned on any of the days around that period! I hope that sticks!

I know what you mean! It has gone from 70 and partly cloudy, to showers and 60 to no showers but chilly 57 and sunny. It is almost amusing to see what it'll say the next day

And now the ever-reliable Accuweather (???) says a definite Rain on the 19th and some rain on the 20th. Yesterday, there was none. The day before, there WAS rain on the schedule! Arrrrrrgggggggghhhhhhhhh!!! Since the 19th is now only ten days away, that is probably more accurate but I am still hoping it stalls or changes direction. I hate having to lug umbrellas and extra rain gear and bulky stuff when my suitcase is bulky and heavy enough as it is!

Well, I thought I would bump this delicious thread from last year, in which we discuss and show photos of delectable holiday treats at DLR...to build anticipation for upcoming DLR holiday trips (holiday time starts in 3 days) and in hopes that maybe some DIS-ers will add more photos now and after they return from their DLR holiday trips.....but I see that some of the photos that were shown in this thread initially have now disappeared!!:sad1:

Oh well, I bumped it anyway, even though we need more photographic contributions of the 'treats' to be had at DLR.

We'll be there in three weeks, and I'm hoping someone will have some pics to share before we leave! Anyone??

We just got back and had a peppermint mocha and a snowman shortbread cookie. Both were awful. Peppermint mocha was basically warm chocolate milk, couldn't tast the coffee or peppermint in it. I thought maybe it was just the maker in the morning so went back at night and it was the same. The snowman shortbread tasted more like flour, needed a lot more butter. My husband said you can get a lot better at Starbucks for half the price, and with starbucks prices that's telling you something.

All in all we were very disappointed with the food, especially the prices, at Disneyland this trip, and we are not picky eaters.

Oh man! That's a surprise! :sad2: I guess I'll have to hope for more posts, and/or see what happens when we go in a few weeks!

FUDGE! :)

Last weekend there were various Christmas candied apples. Snowman and Red/black - santa pants-like. There were gingerbread cookies with mickey ears in chocolate, and all sorts of other stuff I can't remember. I didn't take photos of them because the shop was too crowded to get close to the display case window without waiting in line.

And for anyone still wanting pumpkin muffins, they are still there. YUM! I bought 4 last Saturday at the bakery on Main Street. Yes, DL can be like my grocery store some days. :rotfl: :wizard:

I had a snowman shortbread cookie and a Christmas tree shortbread cokie last year and I thought they were both good - substantial cookies, not lightweight, and they tasted like I expect shortbread to taste. They were fine! So I think either the previous poster just got a cookie from a bad batch or we just have different taste in cookies! Of course, the soft, chewy gingerbread men with ears are the best, but the other ones were yummy too.

hmmmm well I know they have been consolodating their baking etc. even the fudge making to one place now... In order to have better "consistency"...I got the low down on this from someone working in the Candy Palace. consistency usually means a bit bland.... I think it's a real shame (and the employee said they were very unhappy about the situtation as well). I guess we will have to wait to see if perhaps the cookies are now being baked off site there, and are just not as good as they were. I sure hope not, I'm hoping it was just a bad cookie day for someone.....We are very picky eaters too...rarely go out for dinner because...not being vain here.... we usually cook a lot better at home. If Disneyland turns into another place we just don't want to eat at, it will sure take a lot away from the visits. We already found this when we ate last time (and it was to be the last time) at Riverbelle Terrace. The food was generic, bland, portions smaller, and served on a plastic plate. bleh.

Sorry no pics, but we had a really good Holiday Dessert at the Downstairs Vineyard restaurant @ DCA (whatever it's called?!?) -- couldn't get the camera out before DH & DS dug in -- sorry! was DARN GOOD! got 2 -- came in little (maybe 6 oz) ceramic mugs -- 3 layers of mouse/puddings -- dark chocolate, mint, vanilla & whipped cream on top! Did I mention it was good! Might go back & get just that...was really good...$8 a piece...really good....can't remember what they called it! Sorry! But it was really good! Oh -- you get to keep the mugs too!

Thank you for the reviews, Quilter007 and minnieandmickey! I'm sure that smiley_face2 is right about the "consolidation." I'll be watching this thread very carefully. I've been regretting not buying any holiday treats at Disneyland when I went in 2005, and I want to make sure that I find something awesome. :)
