For our WS dinner, which would you recommend? We will have three young kids, but they would like the food at either (probably prefer San Angel). I thought we'd like to see the decor at San Angel, but DH loves Moroccan food. Will he be disappointed at Merrakesh if he's used to authentic Moroccan? TIA! This is our first trip!

I have not been to San Angel, but I vote against Marrakesh. I know everyone has their own different opinion and experience, but we went with our DDs age 4 and 1.5 last Nov..5pm. Place was empty and very quiet...I had to take younger DD out cuz it was like a library. The belly dancer was there about 5 min, music maybe 10. And we weren't that thrilled with the food. Both DDs ate more of my rice then their hamburgers. Just my opinion.

Marrakesh, hands down. Eaten at them both, and must say the service was much better at Marrakesh. The food is unlike anything else you'll typically find at home, too. Mexican can be had a lot. :)

Also, the dancer will include a lot of kids, well kids that are willing. Last time we were there (last weekend :) ) a little girl was all dressed up as Jasmine and the dancer took her out to dance.

I second Marrakesh. We ate there for our first dinner in Jan, and the place was absolutely bustling with activity. The musicians played almost the whole time we were there, and the belly dancer came out twice. The food and wine were wonderful. We really enjoyed ourselves. Of course, I think I enjoyed myself a little bit more because I couldnt help but to feel like I was inside an Indian Jones movie for some reason. The atmosphere is really very convincing.

But, Marrakesh or not, I would stay away from San Angel if at all possible.

He will be disappointed if he's eaten Moroccan food elsewhere extensively.

In our opinion, Marrakesh has taken a real nose dive in quality and service. This used to be one of our favorite restaurants but due to our recent experiences here, it will probably be a very long time before we return.

We were there last week...San Angel has a pleasantly cool, dark and quiet atmosphere and the food is OK. I guess it depends on what your family likes, the Marrakesh is extremely loud, the music drives me crazy and seems to never end, but the food is more interesting than at San Angel. We don't have small children, they would probably enjoy the craziness at Marrakesh while adults might prefer the quiet of San Angel.

We have DD15, DS9 and DS1. Looking for a place that will appeal particularly to the hard to please DS9 and thought he would like the belly dancer and music. I heard they have kids meals that 'normal.' What do y'all think?

We eat at restaurant Marrakesh every time. We have decided that San Angel Inn, while beautiful is not to our liking. The food is just ok, and the service is a bit crap.
