Merging CG reservations

I have a reservation for 4 people on 2/25 at 5:30 for California Grill and my husband has same date, same time, same restaurant for 2 people. We would like to merge because nothing for 6 people was available until after 9:00 pm which won't work. Before I wait on hold or call the wrong number, can anyone tell me if I should call (407) 939-5277 for this request? Is there a chat feature monitored by a human for this request? The website says to take care of dining on the website but I don't think that works for my request. Thanks for information. (We are staying offsite if that matters).

I’m not sure there is anyone at the general number that can do this for you, but I’m equally dubious that a dining reservation agent could do it either if there’s not a reservation for 6 available. As you surmise, the difficulty is the limited number of tables for six.

Many guests end up booking split parties at WDW restaurants. The recommendation is for everyone to arrive 15 minutes before the ADR time, tell the CM that you’re together, and ask to be seated as close together as possible. Then be prepared to wait a few minutes. It’s a very common situation, and they’ll do their best to put you at the same table or as close together as possible, but unfortunately no guarantee. Our experience was that even with a party of 9 split in every numerical combination, we were seated at one table.

Thanks for advice. We did manage to get a party of 5 and a party of 6 merged upon arrival at Chef Mickey’s on Thanksgiving day. So this will be a smaller ask. If it doesn’t work we will go with 4/2. But we’ll arrive at 5:00 for our 5:35 reservation and hope for the best.
